DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Scientific Officer, Water Resources Assessment and Capacity building in Hydrology (SO/WRACDH) unit, the incumbent will work closely with experts from National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) and from Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE).

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

1. Co-organize, co-design and facilitate one Distance Learning Course \"Hydrological field technicians RA IV Costa Rica\":
a. Identify existing e-learnings modules, among the different distance learning courses in Hydrology on WMO Moodle platform, and following the needs of Costa Rica, to be integrated in the distance learning course;
b. Co-design a course curriculum, for an approximate 7-week duration;
c. Prepare transcripts (to be translated in Spanish) and finalize narrated lessons based on NIWA/WMO courses;
d. Finalize non-narrated lessons, activities, quizzes based on NIWA/WMO courses ;
e. Prepare, record, finalize narrated videos/graphics based on COMET/USGS modules;
f. Integrate static graphics and photos into COMET/USGS course;
g. Develop course structure, quizzes and integration of the new documents with COMET/USGS graphics and lessons in WMO Moodle platform.

2. Implement an autonomous Moodle course on operational hydrology based on the modules available on WMO Moodle platform:
a. Define objectives and identify training material;
b. Revise existing training material (especially those with assignments);
c. Update quizzes;
d. Develop and finalize Moodle course.

3. Assist WMO in the implementation of new e-learning modules developed by COMET on Groundwater and Water Quality:
a. Coordinate with COMET and WMO on the international version of USGS/COMET Groundwater and Water Quality lesson;
b. Integrate the new modules in WMO Moodle (including quizzes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

M.S. in Meteorology, Hydrology or Hydrogeology.
Experience

- At least 10 years of relevant work experience in delivering trainings in Hydrology, Meteorology or Hydrogeology.

- At least 10 years of relevant work experience in developing e-learning courses/modules.

- At least 10 years of relevant work experience in designing distance learning courses on operational hydrology.

- At least 10 years of experience using Moodle.

- Work experience with WMO would be an advantage.
Other requirements

Knowledge in editing videos.
Languages

Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of Spanish would be an advantage.
