DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The consultant will provide expert support in information architecture, user experience (UX), user interface (UI) design, digital workspace and dashboard (country profiles) design. The work will involve research, ideation, prototyping, and delivery of actionable design solutions aligned with WMO's strategic monitoring, digital goals and style guide.

Under the direct supervision of the Risk and Quality Management Officer, Planning, Foresight and Performance Office, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

A. UX Support for the Contacts Portal:
- Review and contribute to ongoing UX improvements.
- Provide design inputs (wireframes, prototypes) for new and existing modules.
- Support user testing and iteration based on feedback.
- Ensure consistency with broader WMO digital design patterns.

B. Redesign of the Community Section website and External Collaboration Space:
- Conduct user needs assessments and stakeholder interviews.
- Propose an improved information architecture.
- Design wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes.
- Ensure responsive design across devices.

C. Design Country Profiles:
- Design and incorporate country profile dashboards and community analytics features as needed on the Contacts Portal, Community site and External Collaboration workspaces.

The expected deliverables from the consultancy are as follows:
- Inception report with detailed work plan and timeline.
- User research findings, personas and information architecture for all three areas.
- Wireframes, mockups and final design for all three areas.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
University degree or equivalent in design, social science, IT, development studies, international relations, or a closely related field.
Experience
Proven experience (5+ years) in UX/UI design, particularly for websites, digital workspaces and dashboards. Strong portfolio demonstrating web redesign, wireframing, prototyping, and dashboard design. Familiarity with design tools. Experience in user research and usability testing. Knowledge of accessibility standards. Experience working with UN or international organizations is an asset.

- Sense of integrity, responsibility, maturity of judgement, initiative and creativity.
- Excellent analytical, design, data management, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage multiple workloads.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.

Band D: 620-750 USD per day depending on experience, knowledge and skills.
