FHI 360 is currently recruiting for the position of Gender and Gender-based Violence (GBV) Technical Advisor for an anticipated five-year USAID project, \"Papua New Guinea Peace Activityโ€. an anticipated new activity in Papua New Guinea to prevent and respond to conflict and foster the safe, meaningful participation of vulnerable groups, particularly women, in political, societal, and economic spheres. This project, which will focus on the provinces of Hela and Morobe, will focus on strengthening social cohesion and resilience from the bottom up and supporting existing mechanisms, institutions, and strategies rather than creating new, parallel structures. This position will be based in Port Moresby, with travel to the priority provinces. Availability of position is contingent upon award to FHI 360 and selection of final applicant is subject to USAID approval.

Job Summary

Almost 60 percent of women and girls aged 15-49 in Papua New Guinea have experienced some form of physical and/or sexual violence โ€“ nearly double the global average. In addition, hundreds of sorcery-accusation-related violence cases are reported in the highlands every year with many more going unreported. The Gender/GBV Technical Advisor will be responsible for implementing and integrating a multi-faceted approach to address gender-based violence (GBV) and sorcery-accusation related violence (SARV) for this new Activity. The Gender/GBV Technical Advisor will work closely with the program team to lead GESI analyses from which to develop a project-level GESI plan and work with the team to develop programming to reduce violence against women and girls, increase access to quality, coordinated services for survivors, and create safer communities for women and girls, including promoting livelihoods and access to finance.
