This position is contingent upon funding from the Department of State.

Project Description:

Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) is a global project funded by the US Government and the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), that provides strategic technical assistance and direct service delivery to achieve HIV epidemic control among all at-risk populations; strengthen global health security (GHS), including outbreak response; improve maternal and child health (MCH), address malaria; and promote health systems strengthening (HSS) including supply chain management.

Position Summary:

The Technical Advisor – Nutrition will provide strategic leadership, technical guidance, and quality assurance for the design and implementation of nutrition interventions under the U.S. Department of State funded EpiC Bangladesh project. The role focuses on improving the nutritional status of women, children, and vulnerable populations through evidence-based and culturally appropriate approaches. The Advisor will lead efforts to integrate nutrition into maternal and child health (MCH), risk communication, and community engagement activities. The role includes developing and refining nutrition strategies, training materials, monitoring frameworks, and supporting the capacity strengthening of government counterparts, implementing partners, and frontline workers.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership and Strategy:

• Lead the development and implementation of evidence-based nutrition strategies, ensuring alignment with national policies and U.S. Department of State priorities.
  • Integrate nutrition approaches with RCCE, MCH, and GHS of the project.
    • Provide technical guidance on infant and young child feeding (IYCF), maternal diets, micronutrient supplementation, and community-based nutrition interventions.
    • Lead the development and adaptation of nutrition strategies, technical guidelines, and tools for community-based and facility-based implementation.
    • Ensure inclusive nutrition approaches targeting pregnant and lactating women, children under five, and vulnerable groups.

      • Strengthen the capacity of project staff, government counterparts, and local partners to deliver high-quality nutrition services through training, mentoring, and supportive supervision
      • Support the development of training modules and job aids for frontline health workers and community volunteers on nutrition counseling and promotion.
        • Facilitate training and supportive supervision of government staff, local partners, and community networks.
          • Provide technical support for the development and review of nutritional communication materials tailored for various audiences.

            Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning, Coordination and Partnership:

            • Monitor implementation fidelity and service quality through field visits, supervision, and quality improvement initiatives
              • Support the integration of nutrition indicators in the project’s M&E system.
                • Collaborate with MEL teams to design, track, and analyze nutrition-related indicators
                  • Contribute to the design of tools for monitoring nutrition outcomes and use of community feedback to refine nutrition messages.
                    • Analyze nutrition-related data and provide technical input to periodic reports, success stories, and learning briefs.
                    • Use data and community feedback to inform programmatic decisions, adapt interventions, and identify gaps or opportunities for improvement.
                      • Contribute to documentation of lessons learned, technical briefs, case studies, and donor reports

                        Coordination, Partnerships & Representation

                        • Act as the project’s key liaison on nutrition with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, local governments, and nutrition stakeholders.
                          • Participate in technical working groups and represent the project in national and sub-national nutrition coordination platforms.
                            • Collaborate with other implementing partners, UN agencies, and NGOs to align efforts, avoid duplication, and maximize impact.

                              Qualifications and Experience:

                              • Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Dietetics, Food and Nutrition Sciences, or related field.
                                • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in implementing nutrition programs, preferably in USG-funded or international development settings.
                                  • Strong understanding of community-based nutrition programming, maternal and child health, and behavior change communication.
                                    • Familiarity with the nutrition landscape in Bangladesh.
                                      • Demonstrated experience working with government ministries, especially MOHFW and MOWCA, and with multi-sectoral platforms.
                                        • Experience with data-driven decision-making, program design, and adaptive programming approaches.
                                          • Excellent facilitation, training, and capacity-building skills.
                                            • Strong writing, reporting, and communication skills in both English and Bangla.

                                              Travel Requirements:

                                              Willingness to travel to program implementation sites across all 8 divisions, including remote or hard-to-reach areas.
