Job Description

You will lead a diverse and varied portfolio in this Team Leader role, from leading teams delivering mobile youth outreach programs whose aim is to actively engage young people who may find themselves in positions of vulnerability, be it disengaging from school, engaging in the justice system or other complexities. This is achieved through the delivery of creative and engaging group work activities in community and case management services. The role will also oversee the delivery of targeted supported playgroups and trauma informed, child centred sector capacity building programs in bushfire affected areas.

54 reasons is Australiaโ€™s leading child rights organisation โ€“ no ordinary not-for-profit.

Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, weโ€™re here to make sure that everyone understands their rights. So that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

We champion the children, young people and families we work with. We are inspired by the curiosity and creativity of children and motivated by the love of those who care for them.

With the childโ€™s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children, young people and their caregivers, advocating with them so that they develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve - in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.

Where you come in:

In this max-term full-time position (through to December 2024 with possibility of extension), based in our Wagga office, with travel to Junee, Adelong, Batlow, Tumbarumba and Tumut, you will inspire a team of passionate and talented individuals to accomplish ambitious goals for the Mobile Youth Outreach programs and the Bushfire Recovery program reporting to our Regional Manager.

You will make an impact by:

Leading and developing a dedicated and driven team, including providing professional supervision. Supporting the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of two Mobile Youth Outreach programs in Wagga and Junee as well as the Bushfire Recovery program in Snowy Valleys. Building strong relationships with the local community, local councils, police, youth justice, health and education and confidence in the programs. Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the program, including service delivery, budgets, administration, risk management and compliance.

Does this sound like you?

Youโ€™re an enthusiastic and committed leader with demonstrated experience in driving high quality child and youth centred, family focused service provision and managing a high performing team. Your highly developed cultural awareness and sensitivity, partnered with excellent communication skills, will enable you to build strong community networks and lasting relationships. Youโ€™re not afraid of a challenge and constantly seek to grow and develop.

This role requires:

Proven leadership skills, the ability to nurture a cohesive, agile, high performing team. Ability to drive and role model child and youth centred, family focused approach in service provision within a team. Experience working with children, young people and families of various cultural backgrounds, inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and CALD backgrounds. Ability to manage competing priorities and respond to complex scenarios. Ability to plan and deliver events for children, young people and families in community. Current valid driverโ€™s licence.
