Where you come in:
In this permanent role, we will have the opportunity to negotiate working days and hours for the right applicant. Ideally, the preferred working arrangement would include full time hours Monday โ Friday, however there is the option to negotiate some reduced working days for the right applicant.
This role is based in Toowoomba, where you will work within a team to provide case management and safety planning support to women and children who are escaping or experiencing domestic violence, within the refuge accommodation program. Please note: the role attracts some minimal rostered on-call responsibilities for all staff members.
As part of our Adaโs Haven DFV Refuge and Outreach Program, youโll report to our Team Leader.

You will make an impact by:
Facilitating the provision of safe accommodation to women and children escaping domestic and family violence. Conducting thorough risk and needs assessments, within a trauma informed, Safe and Together case management framework. Working with families to source appropriate, safe and sustainable accommodation free from violence and/or connecting families with services to meet their needs. Work collaboratively with a team of specialists to provide best-practice, integrated responses to DFV.Does this sound like you?
Youโre an experienced practitioner with high levels of initiative and flexibility alongside cultural sensitivity and knowledge. Youโre able to respond calmly and effectively in crisis and complex situations. Importantly, you possess a thorough understanding of the impact of domestic violence on women and children and are able to apply that within a trauma-informed practice framework. An ideal opportunity for someone looking to relocate to kick-start their career.
This role requires:
A Bachelor/Diploma of Social Work, Psychology or relevant Human Service Qualification and/or significant experience in a similar service Knowledge and understanding of domestic and family violence, including the impact on children Experience working with families from diverse cultural backgrounds Strong teamwork and communication skills Current driversโ licenceWorking at 54 reasons is more than just a job.
