This role will be part of Save the Children Internationalโ€™s Child Rights, Equality and Social Justice team which works towards realizing the rights of all children within all contexts.

The post holder will play a varied role supporting with research and analysis, knowledge management and administration. This internship is a great opportunity for someone at the start of a career in the international development/humanitarian or human rights sector to build thematic knowledge of Child Rights, and the challenges faced by children who seek equality based on other grounds such as gender, ability, race, SOGIESC, among other protected grounds.

Hours:ย Full time, 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day, generally carried out Monday-Fridayย

Hourly Rate:ย $15.50 per hour

Duration: 8 weeks/35 hours per week (July to August 2023) ย

Duties and responsibilities:ย 

100% The Child Rights, Equality and Social Justice Team: ย  a small core team responsible for coordinating and moving forward programming, and research and evidence on Child Rights Governance, Child Rights based programming, Childrenโ€™s Participation, Gender Equality, Disability Inclusion among others.Research and analysis: working directly with the Global Director, provide research on potential partnerships/external engagement opportunities to broaden impact. ย Develop case studies demonstrating the impact of the child-rights based approach. This means turning existing impact studies into case studies for communicating these to our wider colleagues and identifying potential impact studies.Support the strategic development of Inequality and Discrimination by mapping the footprint of Gender Equality, Disability Inclusion, anti-racism, SOGIESC, and other internal and external work done for equity-seeking groups.Support Common Language rewrites, or summaries of existing policies and strategiesAny other duties required to support the Global Director to plan and deliver on our 2022-2024 workplan and 2030 Breakthrough objectives. This may include data analysis, supporting communications, or participating in project work.ย 

Requirements:ย 

Home based internet connection and personal computer.ย Completion of high school is required.ย Good interpersonal and communications skills, thrives in a multicultural environment.ย Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of tools; Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Teams and Excel.Educated to (or studying towards) degree level in a field related to governance, human rights, gender equality, critical race theory, social justice, international development, humanitarian programming, peace and reconciliation or access to justice.Demonstrable interest in international development, politics, social research methods and/or Child RightsResearch skillsStrong analytical skillsGood time management skills.Sound judgement and an ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.Ability to work independently without direct supervision and to take responsibility for self-learning.Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Save the Children.Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communications skills.Fluency in French or Spanish.Law student is desirable.
