Job Summary:
The Infectious Diseases (ID) department is a global team with experts who have extensive knowledge in tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases, COVID-19, global health security, emerging infectious diseases, among others and are committed to strengthening infectious disease capacity across the world. The Associate Director, Infectious Diseases Business Development Strategies and Partnerships Strategic, will oversee the ID department business development portfolio to support departmentโs growth strategy goals and objectives. The position will evaluate and manage new strategic business opportunities, initiatives, partnerships, and alliances to make recommendations for new projects to be used for strategic business decisions. They will provide leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementation of strategic business objectives including analyzing new market areas. In conjunction with ID department director and senior division directors, they will plan and evaluate projects by determining market opportunities, development of new industries, customers, territories, etc., determining the project's financial viability and planning a marketing strategy.
Accountabilities:
Management and Strategy
- Serves on the ID Senior Management Team (SMT)
- Leads business planning activities within the ID department and sets up processes, procedures and resources and support coordinating across countries and departments as needed.
- Leads and facilitates the completion of client business opportunity assessments, competitive situational analyses, and industry trend and impact assessments.
- Manages and coordinates business development efforts and staff to align with strategic goals for the ID department.
- Leads business planning activities for the ID department in coordination with GHP BD team and BDD BPOM team and ensures active implementation of existing processes, procedures, resources and systems.
- Supports the business planning process by managing ID pipeline, gathering key data, interpreting results, and presenting recommendations to management.
- Coordinates with the Private Sector Engagement Advisor and Strategic Partnerships to ensure compliance and alignment with FHI 360 policies and procedures when vetting private sector funding and partnerships.
Business Development
- Leads the refinement of ID business development tools and mechanisms to tailor to the department specific business development efforts and oversees roll out of tools and processes to the ID global team.
- Manages business development efforts with the ID department, providing support, training, and resources to support BD activities internationally and tying them into home office efforts. Collaborates with FHI 360โs country-based staff to identify and respond to opportunities.
- Works closely with GHP BD leadership and ID leadership, to plan new business, maintain existing client and partner relationships, and capitalize on opportunities to highlight new product and tools the department has created, and manage ID DD pipeline
- Develops and reviews department concept notes for webinars, symposiums, conferences to ensure a business development opportunity is a tangible output.
- Leads, coaches and mentors staff throughout client and prospect meetings/engagements to ensure all projects meet the goals and objectives of the company.
- Understands and stays abreast with key trends and emerging industry practices and business endeavors.
Proposals
- Develops and implements transition plan from capture to implementation, transitioning the proposal over to the project team once win notification is received.
- Develops and reviews the internal bid justification memo (BJM) from ID divisions, assesses, proposal resources BD budget are adequate, and and subsequently notifies necessary individuals of their role and level of effort for the proposal development..
- Oversees the preproposal/Capture process for the department, working collaboratively across departments and FHI 360 internal partners including other business units and regional offices.
- Leads and facilitates the completion of client business opportunity assessments, competitive situational analyses, and industry trend and impact assessments.
- Serves as point of contact for external partners
- Coordinates BD department meetings to ensure objectives are being met and are within budget constraints.
- Identifies and attends conferences as a representative of the department and highlighting opportunities for the department to participate through white paper, abstracts, and/or presentations at conferences.
- Assists with initial desk research, identifying previous bid and potential competitors.
- Serve as a Capture Manager and ensure smooth handoff to PDLs and BD team after capture.
- Serve as proposal design lead or technical budget lead on proposals as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Report to the Infectious Diseases Department Director.
Education: **- Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Related Field.
Experience: **
- Typically requires 8+ years of experience with new business and proposal development work.
- Prior experience working in a non-governmental organization (NGO).

- Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.

The expected hiring salary range for this role is listed below. FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.
Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 12% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.
Hiring Salary Range: $103,000-$165,000
