Project Background

Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC), a global project funded by the U.S Government and the U.S. Presidentโ€™s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), that provides strategic technical assistance and direct service delivery to achieve HIV epidemic control among all at-risk populations; strengthen global health security (GHS), including outbreak response; expand tuberculosis detection and treatment (TB), expand improve maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), address malaria; and promote health systems strengthening (HSS) including supply chain management.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the DRC Epic Project Director, the Technical Director: Malaria, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) and Nutrition will closely work with EpiC headquarters (HQ) and in-country Malaria, MNCH and Nutrition teams, United States Government (USG) personnel, implementing partners, and the Ministry of Health to provide guidance on the delivery of USG -endorsed life-saving interventions.

These interventions include:

  • Malaria services such as case management, vector control, and malaria prevention during pregnancy (e.g., rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs), artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT), intermittent preventive treatment in pregnancy with sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine (IPTp-SP), insecticide-treated nets (ITNs), rectal artesunate (RAS), and the introduction and scale-up of malaria vaccines).

    • MNCH and Nutrition services for pregnant women, newborns, and children, including antenatal care (ANC), postnatal/postpartum care, emergency obstetric and newborn care (EmONC), integrated community case management (iCCM), maternal nutrition, infant and young child feeding, and screening and treatment for acute malnutrition, among others.

    • The Technical Director: Malaria, MNCH and Nutrition is an advanced subject matter expert who will oversee the malaria, MNCH, and Nutrition components of the program, directing and advising other technical staff members. The Technical Director: Malaria, MNCH and Nutrition will provide oversight to the day-to-day technical and operational aspects of Malaria, MNCH and Nutrition and integrated health projects and will supervise technical staff members to ensure that project activities are on track with work plans. This position will inform project design and implementation, drawing from their technical expertise in Malaria, MNCH and Nutrition. The Technical Director: Malaria, MNCH and Nutrition will lead the development and revision of best practice documents in DRC, monitor budgets in collaboration with finance staff, and will be expected to coordinate and work with a diverse group of organizations, such as the Ministries of Health, international and national development partner organizations, and United States Government (USG) personnel to complete work. The Technical Director will also provide leadership to reinforce the National Malaria Control Programโ€™s data analytics and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems, ensuring accountability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
