The Technical Director for Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition (MNCH-N) provides strategic leadership and technical expertise to FHI 360โ€™s global Health Programs portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Director, Program Portfolio Technical, the Technical Director, MNCH-N establishes and continually refines MNCH and nutrition technical frameworks, approaches, and tools; leads evidence-based programming; and ensures alignment with national and international health standards. They develop, implement, and evaluate programs aimed at improving maternal, child health, and nutritional outcomes. The Technical Director, MNCH-N will work closely with FHI 360 global team, United States Government (USG) Department of State (DOS) personnel, implementing partners, and Ministries of Health (MOH) to ensure timely development of workplans and monitor all technical aspects of assigned MNCH and nutrition projects from initiation through delivery. The Technical Director also contributes to global thought leadership, supervises technical staff, and ensures that all technical activities meet donor, government, and FHI 360 requirements.

This is a remote position that can be based in any country where FHI 360 is currently registered.

Accountabilities:

  • Serves as the MNCH-N technical lead and key point of contact for the Health Programs portfolio.

    • Takes a technical leadership role to ensure high quality technical deliverablesโ€”including workplans and annual reportsโ€”are developed, submitted and approved on schedule and within budget parameters.

      • Provides technical direction to evidence-based MNCH and Nutrition programming for facility and community-level interventions, based on local and global best practices, and in alignment with approved life-saving activities.

        • Provides strategic leadership on MNCH and nutrition policies and programming in ways that are sensitive and beneficial and in harmony with other MNCH and nutrition country programs and coordinating mechanisms.

          • Establishes and maintains partnerships with stakeholders including leading interactions with government institutions, subcontracted organizations, and the donor on a regular basis.

            • Develops and implements processes and procedures to achieve strategic technical goals of the Health Programs portfolio.

              • Contributes to program/project design, implementation, learning, and monitoring and evaluation through active collaboration with project teams and host-country government structures at central, regional, district and facility levels.

                • Contributes to policy development, advocacy, and strategic planning at the national and regional levels

                  • Provides direction to ensure technical activities are compliant with donor regulations, government regulations and FHI 360 policies and procedures.
