The Opportunity
Plan International Pilipinas Foundation Inc. is currently implementing a project entitled: Strengthening Structures for anticipatory humanitarian action for gender-responsive and inclusive disaster management in the Philippines.
The project aims to establish and empower the participation of youth and children in all diversity, their families, and communities to anticipate the potential negative impacts of disaster in the development of forecast-based early action. It will involve the local government units and their existing mechanisms to identify risks, strengthen their early warning system, and establish flexible financing to enable anticipatory action for tropical storms and flooding, with a particular focus on gender equality, inclusion, protection, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
In line with this project, we invite competent, experienced, and committed professionals to fill the following position.
The Project Officers (2) will be responsible for capacitating the children, youth, community stakeholders, and partners by facilitating situational analysis, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation (SAPIME) in the context of Disaster Resilience, Child Centered Community Development (CCCD), and gender responsiveness for the Anticipatory Action grant-funded project. The project will be implemented in the municipalities of Llorente and Salcedo in East Samar; and in the municipalities of Datu Blah Sinsuat and North Upi in Maguindanao del Norte.
Further, as the Project Officer:
You will design & facilitate the implementation of the project interventions through appropriate participatory techniques. You will facilitate the capacity building of partners including children in project management. You will facilitate the gathering and updating of baseline data into a community profile and ensure that these are communicated in the community. You will document community projects, activities, and processes. You will ensure the submission of timely and quality reports, according to the prescribed format and requirements of the donor. You will represent and promote Plan International Pilipinas in important events at the community, municipal, provincial, and regional levels. Plan International is a development and humanitarian organization. In exceptional cases, you will be asked to support emergency response activities in the communities in your assigned covered areas. This will be based in Maguindanao.
Do you have what it takes?
To be successful in the role you will need among other things:
University graduate in Social Work, Community Development, Behavioral Sciences, Disaster Risk Reduction, or Other related courses. Has at least two (2) years of work experience in actual community organizing and organizing. Hands-on experience in participatory approaches including children. Has the knowledge and/or exposure to Community Organizing/ Community Development; Program/ Project Management; and Participatory Rapid/ Rural Appraisal. Able to practice clear and effective communication that builds relationships to influence others. Good command of verbal and written communication skills and the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds. Applicants must be based in the Philippines and Filipino nationals.
