What we are looking for
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a highly qualified and dynamic Global Programme Director.ย
As Global Programme Director youย will be accountable for the programmatic relevance of theย organisation necessary to ensure NRC can deliver on its mission and strategy now and in the future. You will have the overall responsibility for global programme development and policy, for driving innovation within NRCโs programmes and for representation of the organization on programme issues. You will manage the heads of the three units that make up the Global Programme Section (GPS) and be the technical professional matrix lead for NRCโs Regional Programme Directors. ย The Director is a member of the Field Operations Management Team and the Extended Senior Management Group.ย
What you will do
Lead the development/updating of NRCโs response policy and related governing documents to reflect changing needs, emerging humanitarian trends and evidence. This ย includes setting organizational standards for programme quality, impact and results and for the establishment/maintenance of programme compliance systems.ย Lead the development and implementation of programmatic component of NRCโs Global Strategyย and related strategic/technical documents, including development areas assigned to the section that go beyond programmes.ย Identifying new trends, best practice and lessons learned across NRCs programmes and externally and feeding innovative approaches, best practice and lessons learned into future programme development, policy and strategy.ย Accountable for the development and maintenance of MEL policiesย (Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning), system, minimum standards and guidelines for all NRC departments. This includes analysis, communication and use of evidence for reporting, management and learning purposes and developing global results frameworks, evidence and learning plans for programme development.ย Accountable for NRCโs external representation in relevant global technical and coordination fora and for ensuring that NRC is in a leading position and shaping major technical programme debates within the humanitarian sector through our advocacy work.ยPlease download theย detailed job descriptionย to learn more about the position.ย ย
What you will bring
Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience with at least 5 years of relevant senior management experience within the humanitarian fieldย In-depth professional knowledge and expertise within one or more of NRCโs sectors of programme expertise Track record of leading and delivering programme development with global impact Experience of innovation, organizational learning, development and change Experience of leading and managing staff teams, including providing vision and direction during periods of change Outstanding communication, representation and interpersonal skillsWhat we offer
