The purpose of the Education Officer position is to assist in the day-to-day implementation of the education project with a particular focus on the implementation of the psychosocial support programme \"BLP -better learning program\" in the North West region (Bamenda). He/she will work under the supervision of the Education Coordinator, who will provide him/her full support in the implementation of all relevant activities.

A - Generic Responsibilitiesย 

Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tool, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirementsImplement the Education activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plansAssists in the implementation of the project in accordance with the education and psychosocial support action plan (BLP);Prepare periodic status reports and other documents as required by managementEnsure proper filing of documentsย Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plansCoordinate with relevant partnersย Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to proceduresTrain and develop teamPromote and share ideas for technical improvementย in order to improve the quality of the activitiesEnsure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.Actively participate in the data collection of the education programme and BLP programme and the various feasibility studies

B - Specific Responsibilitiesย 

Ensure ย correct data collection and tracking of all emergency interventions and participate in compiling emergency related internal (bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly) and external (interim and final) reportsAssists the Education Coordinator in the preparation and organization of various training, workshops and sensitization on education with a particular focus on the NRC's psychosocial support program, the BLP (Better Learning Program) ;Assists the Education Coordinator in the activities of coaching and mentoring of teachers during the implementation of the BLP program, organizing the follow-up of meetings, assisting teachers in developing the work plan including BLP activities, psychosocial support activities and recreational activities;Support during the presentation, engagement and parentโ€™s follow-up in the BLP program;Support and be responsible for the proper collection of BLP program data (BLP teacher training, student evaluation, group discussion, etc.);Take responsibility for any materials, tools, vehicles, communication equipment provided by NRCLead in organizing and facilitating trainings programmes in psychosocial support, life skills, content and pedagogy.Lead the Education emergency team in developing training programmes for teachers and school management committees (SMCs) including follow-up and support.ย ย Participate in cluster trainings by offering technical skills and knowledge when required in consultation with the Education Project Manager.ย Determine training needs of teachers and SMCs from time together with the cluster and the Project coordinatorย Determine resource materials required for effective teaching including improvised teaching and learning materialsย  ย to supplement stationeries supplied to schools.Establish appropriate teacher resource kits within targeted school in consultations with teachers.ย Develop and execute teacher support programme at school level together with Ministry of Education officialsย Performance management of Education assistants under your responsibilityEstablishes a community complaints and accountability mechanism;Works closely with NRC partner staff and treats them with respect;Ensures the quality of report writing in a timely mannerย Ensures the quality and regular monitoring of the progress of activities in the office and in the field in close coordination with the MoEOther relevant tasks as assigned by the Education Project Managerย 

A - Qualifications:

At least two yearsโ€™ experience in the field of education.Professional experience as Project Officer/ Team Leader in a humanitarian/recovery context.Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contextsProven track record on the responsibilities of the position.Experience with rural communities and knowledge of local languages spoken within areas of intervention;Knowledge of national and international norms and standards relating to education.Ability to understand issues related to cross-cutting themes such as gender, protection, HIV/AIDS, environment.Documented results related to the positionโ€™s responsibilitiesKnowledge about own manager skills/profileย Fluency in English, both written and verbal and knowledge of French an asset.Computer skills: MS Office required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
