Result of ServiceA. New staff is trained (5 sessions during 5 days) to handle import responses (IRs) and final regulatory actions (FRAs) in importing data to PIC database; B. Reviewed the extract of Annex I and IV of PIC Circular 60 to ensure consistency of the information across three language versions (English, French and Spanish) of PIC Circular 60 and saved these on the shared drive; C. A report is submitted compiling the responses received to the export notification and information exchange questionnaire that will be delivered via email to the responsible Programme Officer; D. The report on Chemical profilesโ€™ application enhancements in MS Word and its annex are drafted to assist the BRS Secretariat to provide access to quality information on chemicals relevant to the conventions. Work LocationOffice Expected duration4 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Programme Officers, the consultant will perform the following tasks: A. Provide training to the new staff on entering data from the import responses and final regulatory action notifications into the Prior Informed Consent Database (PIC-DMA) (estimated duration: 5 days); B. Review the consistency of the information across all 3 language versions of the PIC Circular 60, to be published in December 2024 (estimated duration: 10 days); C. Compile and analyze the responses to the export notification and information exchange questionnaire (estimated duration: 5 days); D. Prepare a report in MS Word format to evaluate the pertinence of the data structure used for the BRS Chemical profilesโ€™ prototype application. The report will also recommend quality enhancements for a data structure common to chemicals targeted by the application, i.e. all listed chemicals under the Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions. The report will contain, in an Annex, a list of relevant information hosted in the BRS Secretariat clearing-house mechanism to be processed for inclusion in the Chemical profilesโ€™ application as well as a mapping of relevant sections or fields to the data structure. Due to time constraints the annex will prioritize the most recently listed chemicals under the Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions (estimated duration: 20 days). Qualifications/special skillsA high school degree is required. A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible working experience in the field of management of information relating to chemicals is required. At least 3 years of relevant experience in the field of chemicals and waste management is required. Experience in evaluation and assessment of complex programmes under multilateral environmental agreements and issues related to chemicals management, governance and environment protection are desirable. Experience in managing information on chemicals properties, chemicals uses and risks is desirable. Working experience in the United Nations or similar international organizations is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English, French and Spanish is required.
