Strategic Engagement Advisor

Result of ServiceStrategic stakeholder engagement, policy advice, and event coordination to support energy transition and economic diversification at national and subnational levels. Key results of service include facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogues, monitoring trends and policy developments, synthesizing technical reports into engagement strategies, and maintaining trusted relationships with key partners including UNEP, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, BOGA, etc. The role also involves coordinating workshops and technical meetings, aligning communication outputs with strategic objectives, contributing to policy and capacity-building reports, and providing technical advice to ensure energy transition strategies align with national policies and global transition scenarios. Work LocationBrasilia [Distrito Federal] Expected duration4 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the overall guidance of the UNEP Brazil Representative and in close coordination with Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Team and the Ministry of Finance, the Strategic Engagement Lead is responsible for engaging a wide range of stakeholders to advance energy transition goals, provide technical advice on the best approach to raise awareness on the benefits of the transition, identify key actors and levers to enable transition pathways for cities that receive on oil and gas for revenues. Qualifications/special skillsBachelor’s degree in Public Administration, International Relations, Environmental Sciences, Management, Political Sciences, Economical Sciences, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related area of study is required. Post graduation degree and/or Master’s Degree in relevant fields is an asset Candidates should have at least five (5) years of relevant experience in the field of of stakeholder engagement and outreach, just transition, climate change policy or sustainable development; Candidates with Post-graduation, Master’s degree and/or Doctorate Degree, should have at least three (3) years of relevant experience in the fields of stakeholder engagement and outreach, just transition, climate change policy or sustainable development. Work Experience (additional): Proven experience with political outreach and strategic stakeholder engagement is required Demonstrated expertise in climate change, energy transition or economic diversification is required Experience working with the UN System and at international level is desirable Experience with Brazil’s public sector institutions is desirable Special knowledge and Skills Excellent capacity to promote strategic multi-stakeholder engagement. Good Interpersonal relationship skills to work closely with partners and the project coordinating team; Ability to make inter-institutional articulation and to establish interfaces among project partners, government bodies, institutions, companies, and others. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Capacity to conduct political and economic context analysis. Ability to deal with confidentiality issues. Ability to perform planned activities in accordance with the guidelines and timeline provided. LanguagesFluency in Portuguese and English is required.
