National Consultant to facilitate the dissemination of technical safety standards for the RAC sector in Perú

That role is discharged through the LawDivision's OzonAction Branch, whose goal is to enable developing countries to meet andsustain their compliance obligations under the treaty. OzonAction’s Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP) provides a range of services and project implementation support to assist those countries. In this sense, the implementation of HCFC Phase-Out Management Plan (HPMP) Stage II in Peru aims to reduce 100% of HCFC consumption by 2030, for which UNEP, as a cooperating agency, assists with the adoption of safety standards in the introduction of RAC equipment using non-ODS and zero/low-GWP refrigerants (including flammable refrigerants). In accordance with national legal/regulatory frameworks, the Government of Peru, through its National Ozone Unit under the General Directorate of Environmental Affairs for Industry (DGAAMI) of the Ministry of Production, has requested UNEP to hire a consultant for the development and design of informational bulletins related to the current Peruvian technical standards on refrigeration, as well as on best practices in refrigeration aimed at preserving the ozone layer and mitigating climate change. The purpose is to provide actors in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector with updated technical materials focused on environmental protection. The consultant will receive overall and day-to-day supervision from the National OzoneUnit focal point and relevant departments of the Ministry of Production in Perú (Communication Office etc.) and UNEP, Latin America Network Designated Programme Officer Qualifications/special skillsACADEMIC: - Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields, is Required. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: - Capacity to work in a multicultural environment. - Skills related to the formatting and layout design of technical publications. - Excellent written communication skills. At least 5 years of professional experience, preferably in the preparation or implementation of projects in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector, or in the installation, maintenance, and/or repair of refrigeration equipment, or in areas relatedto environmental issues is Required. Experience in drafting and/or publishing technical bulletins on environmental matters, as well as producing technical outreach materials is Highly Desirable. Familiarity with the control measures under the Montreal Protocol is Highly Desirable. LanguagesFluency in oral and written Spanish is required .
