The purpose ofย The purpose of the assistant position is to assist in the day-to-day implementationย ofย theย ICLA Programme.ย 

Specific responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Group Information Sessions (GIS) for the ICLA beneficiaries in the Nineveh governorate on the issues related to Civil Documentation, Housing, Land & Property (HLP) rights, and employment rights.
  • Receive the counselling and legal cases after holding Group information sessions and refer these cases to ICLA Legal Officers by ICLA database.
  • Provide support to ICLA Legal Officers by contacting the beneficiaries and gathering information as well as organizing appointments with the beneficiaries to attend in the court and/or state directorates.
  • Provide support to ICLA Officers in the process of preparation of the necessary documentation and follow-up on the legal cases in the courts and/or other relevant administrative institutions.
  • Prepare all the drafts, copy and materials as well as co-facilitate ICLA training.
  • Input and update beneficiary data into ICLAโ€™s case management tools, and periodically disaggregate and analyze data gathered during legal assistance activities in order to identify trends.
  • Ensure that the project targets beneficiaries most in need and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
  • Any other task relevant to the position and as requested by the line manager.

    Generic professional competencies:ย 

  • Experience from working as an Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context
Knowledge and experience within a relevant administration, craft or technical field andย 
ย ideally a relevant vocational qualificationPrevious experience from working in complex and volatile contextsDocumented results related to the positionโ€™s responsibilitiesSome knowledge of English.Proven skills and experience in case management and conflict resolutionGood computer skills, especially in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and Data entry.Good experience in internal and external referrals.Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and good English is required.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:ย 

A University degree (Law degree preferable)Minimum 2 years of work experience with humanitarian organizations in a similar position.Ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision in a challenging environment.Proactive, goal-oriented, and results-driven.Flexible and creative, Excellent communication and Diplomatic.ย
