The National Roving ย Protection from Violence Advisor role's ย is to provide technical and implementation support to field teams to enhance the quality, inclusivity, and effectiveness of NRCโs protection response and to support with the Protection from Violence Specialist in the contextualization of the countrywide strategy, capacity development packages, tools and resources, and contribute to strategic decision-making. They are expected to spend about 70% of their time in the field, with close collaboration with, and under direct supervision by, the Protection from Violence Specialist to enhance strategic implementation.
- Support the development and contextualisation of in-country technical standards, guidance notes, and programming resources for Protection from Violence programming.
- Support the Protection from Violence Specialist to identify the training and development needs within the Protection from Violence teams with the support of the Protection from Violence Coordinators, develop and contextualise training materials based on relevant programme guidelines and SOPs, and support roll-out to teams.
- Support the development of reports including situation reports, assessment reports, background documents, briefing papers, information memos, and other relevant protection-specific documents as necessary.
- Ensure representation in sectorial coordination, clusters and/or working groups as relevant to Protection from Violence
- Support the Protection from Violence Specialist to ensure the achievement of commitments under the Protection from Violence Country Strategy and the Balanced Scorecard.
- Act as acting Protection from Violence Specialist when appointed.
- Travel to Area Offices to provide support to implementation teams to ensure the technical quality, inclusiveness, and effectiveness of Protection from Violence programming and to ensure quality and compliance with implementation processes, tools, monitoring, and reporting.
- Contribute analysis and insights from project areas to inform strategic and programming decisions.
- Minimum of 3-5 years solid experience working on protection related issues in humanitarian emergencies, such as field coordination, programme management and/or provision of technical advice to field teams
- Post graduate degree in international law, social sciences or related field, or an additional 3 years of relevant experience
- Strong project management, analytical, planning and drafting skills
- Excellent understanding of protection issues in emergency and displacement situationsย
- Detailed knowledge of humanitarian and protection principles, guidelines for humanitarian assistance
- Good understanding of and experience in working with protection cluster or sector coordination
- Strong coordination, representation skills and inter-personal skills, working well both in teams and independently
- Self-motivated and excellent observer of protection issues
- Able to work under pressure and good at timely decision making
- Excellent written and spoken English
