FHI 360 has an exciting internship opportunity for a student interested in growing their skills within the international development sector. Under close supervision, an Intern will perform entry level professional duties which will provide the opportunity for professional training in various functional areas throughout the organization. Internship assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to a global nonprofit development organization.
A cross-departmental team of researchers and program implementers with expertise in HIV is seeking a student to support the development of a Strategic HIV Research Agenda. An internal scoping review of existing resources specifically related to FHI 360โs capabilities in HIV is needed to inform the Research Agenda. The intern would network and collaborate with a broad range of staff across the organization to complete the scoping exercise. The intern would also support the development of an HIV Research Toolkit that would contain a range of research tools to support various types of and approaches to research and evidence generation. The intern would gain a breadth of knowledge about research methodologies, as well as tools and processes to support research within a large, global non-profit organization.
This is a paid internship with a flexible schedule based on project needs.
Anticipated Duration: January 2024 to May 2024
Hours: Part-time, 12-15 hours/week
Pay Rate: $24.00/hour
Location: Remote, United States (preference given to candidates in ET or CT zones)

Anticipated Project(s) and Assignment Details:
The intern may contribute to various team or project activities under the direction of their supervisor in the following ways:
- Contribute to an internal scoping review of existing HIV research resources within FHI 360: staff and their technical areas of expertise, particularly at the country level, existing data, potential funders.
- Support the planning and development of an HIV Research Toolkit for HIV researchers and programmers.
- Conduct desk reviews, landscape analyses and/or secondary data analyses
- Organize and participate in team meetings and country calls (e.g., assisting with meeting preparation, meeting minutes, a post-meeting report)
- Support business development efforts, including conducting background research on donors, programs, and strategies and developing summaries that highlight the departmentโs capabilities
- Contribute to project-related presentations, blogs, reports and/or manuscripts
- Assist with project-related administrative tasks, as needed
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Currently enrolled in a Masterโs degree program at a college or university in a related field of study or within one year of graduation date: MPH
- Demonstrated interest in public health research (ideally but not necessarily in HIV) through studies, work experience, and/or personal travel
- Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
- Strong writing and research skills
- Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
