The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a highly qualified, experienced, and dynamic Global Lead โ€“ Emergency Support Functions.ย 

ย 

This position sits within NRCโ€™s Emergency Response Section (ERS) which leads the organization's overall capacity to respond to new and emerging humanitarian crises, including through active monitoring, innovation and system development, crisis activation and emergency deployments.

ย 

The Global Lead โ€“ Emergency Support Functions provides support, guidance and advice to ERS staff, country, and regional offices on emergency response and start-up processes and practices within the Support function. This position will also help to strengthen CO and RO support function capabilities during emergencies by providing training and leading on global initiativesย 

ย 

This position is part of the ERS Head Office team and will travel up to 30% of their time to emergency responses or start-ups to support, advise and guide County and Regional Offices.

What you will doย 

Line management and performance development of Global Roving support staff.ย  Provide expert technical support, guidance and capacity building to ERS Global Roving and ERTs, COs and ROs related to support functions in emergency response.ย  Lead on the strategic development of support functions in emergency response and start-ups, in line with global objectives and initiatives.ย  Support CO/ROs to ensure best practice within support functions in emergency response.ย  Act as a link between Organizational Development HO and the ERS, to ensure information sharing and coordination Support or drive innovation of support functions to improve how NRC responds to emergencies.ย  Develop and lead roll out of training modules on emergency response related to support functionsย  Deploy to large-scale crises in an advisory and support capacity; or as a HoS if a critical need exists.ย  ย

ย What you will bringย 

Minimum 5 years of experience in senior positions managing support functions (HR, Finance, Logistics, Admin), in a humanitarian/recovery contextย  Previous experience working in an emergency responseย  Strong in-country experience from working in complex and volatile contextsย  Documented results related to the positionโ€™s responsibilitiesย  Allocation of resources and costs expertiseย  Knowledge about own leadership skills/profileย  Strong skills in leadership and team managementย  Fluency in English, mandatory. French, Spanish or Arabic language skills are desirable.ย

Duty station: Oslo, Norway (Hybrid work model) or other location in a similar time zone could be considered.
