NRC is looking for a visionary and results-driven Private sector Fundraising Specialist to join the Global Corporate Relationssection. NRC External relations (Exrel) is a global team responsible for engaging with private individuals and private sector organisation to build awareness of NRCs work and raise resources for NRC through funding, partnerships and investments 

To do this Exrel has fours focus areas: 

Public Engagement who give a global public voice to NRC and the people we serve;  Fundraising who grow our income of unearmarked funding from private individuals;   Donor Management who ensure our income from regular donors;   Corporate who secure grants, funding and pro bono resources from private organisations and private philanthropist and the capital market.  

In addition, there is a Governance function that crosses all these functions focused on legal, financial, human resource and other ‘fit for purpose’ activities. 

NRC has the goal to grow partnerships and diversify funding sources which includes greater partnership with private sector (private foundations, corporations, impact investors/capital market / private philanthropist) both for grants, pro bono support and joint projects such as private public partnerships built with blended finance, impact investment and joint ventures.  

The function 

The Corporate Specialist Fundraising Advisor, is responsible for delivering the global corporate relations commitments with a focus on one or more specialist areas, as well as contributing to the wider section and organisational goals.  Theywill operate globally to find, recruit and manage sources of funding from private sector(corporate, foundations) and private philanthropist, all in alignment with NRCs priorities and NRC rules/policies.  

Main responsibilities will be: 

To develop and maintain a diverse portfolio of unique global fundraising partnerships with different types of private organisations/private philantropist from different industries and cultures.  To work across NRC to understand global, regional and country strategies and identify ways the private sector could contribute resources to help deliver that. From this create new and innovative opportunities, identify suitable potential matching partners, roadmap a way to engage them and get them to commit to funding the opportunity including negotiating/recognising when to pivot to ensure funds and when to redline to meet NRCs needs.  Engaging with C-suite/leaders one to one to explain NRC, get them to see value in partnering with NRC and finally get a funding commitment from them.  As a global role to work with other teams/leaders in HO and field/region/representative offices to mentor their abilities to successfully engage with the private sector.  To deliver on a fundraising target for the role.  To work to promote NRC partnerships e.g. case studies, talk at events, partner meetings with leadership and other collagues across the organisation.  To influence Global Corporate fundraising strategy as well as fundraising strategies for other parts of NRC, example livelihood, innovation, digitalization and more    Bringing a level of realism whilst creating excitement around private sector partnerships to NRC staff  To find new partnership funding opportunities. 

 

To be considered for this role, you will have:  

Experience within business development/sales, corporate partnerships and/or social impact or other relevant professional qualification.   knowledge of private sector organisations; corporate market, private foundations, private philanthropist   Capacity for flexible thinking and innovation to find win-win solutions between NRC and private sector.  Experience in creating new partnerships – including identifying partnership opportunities, designing projects, brokering, and cultivating relationships, negotiations and designing and formalizing partnership structures.    Ability to engage at C-suite roles/senior levels in business and development sector contexts, and to build trust-based relationships with senior-level executives.  Excellent communication skills  Ability to multi-task and work with short deadlines.  Solid experience in project planning and management.  Ability to work independently and proactively.  Willing and able to connect with field offices and corporate partners around the world.  Fluency in English, both written and verbal .
