Save the Childrenโ€™s Family Support and Early Childhood programs go out into the community across Gippsland and support vulnerable families and children to reach their full potential. We need you to help us give these children an experience of quality early childhood education and play, to develop their appetite for learning and help enable a smooth transition into school.

Where you come in:

In this casual role, youโ€™ll facilitate playgroups and provide family support across a variety of early childhood, youth and family programs. Based in Bairnsdale (with travel across East Gipplsand), youโ€™ll be part of our Australian Services team and report to our Team Leader, East Gippsland.

You will make an impact by:

ยท Delivering early years programs including playgroups and community events

Finding creative ways to encourage families to engage with our early childhood and parenting support programs and services Building family capacity by using partnership, outcomes based, strengthsโ€™ perspective and client-centred approaches Promoting positive parent/child relationships through role modelling, education and practical support Identifying where additional assistance and external services are required Collaborating with team members to deliver programs and support services, promoting positive and culturally respectful approaches to parenting, and child and family wellbeing Providing case management, delivering support to vulnerable and disadvantaged families Collecting and recording data for the purposes of reporting and evaluation

This role requires:

Knowledge of child and family issues and a proven understanding of child development stages and influences Experience working with CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families Proven experience in using trauma informed practice Strong organisational and time management skills Current valid driverโ€™s licence and willingness to travel in the region Diploma in a relevant field such as Childrenโ€™s Services, Community Services, Social Work, Human Services or Social Sciences or equivalent qualification.
