Reporting to: Chief Officer, Leadership Development and Engagement

Second Line of Reporting: Chief Executive Officer and The Board of Trustees

Commitment: Full time

Working Hours: 40 hours/week

Position Summary:

PIH Malawi is seeking a positive, aspirational, and inspirational leader to build upon the organizationโ€™s growth over the last 16 years. As the organizational leader of PIH Malawi, the Executive Director ensures that we deliver on our commitment to improving health care outcomes in Malawi, while also identifying ways in which to not only live up to our existing commitments, but to also grow them. The Executive Director leads a multi-disciplinary management team of experts in formulating and implementing short, medium and long term organizational strategic plans.

The Executive Director is responsible for guaranteeing that the mission and values of PIH are being upheld across the organization. This pursuit is of equal importance to the oversight of organizational systems and policies. The Executive Director builds coalitions within our organization to bring daring aspirations to fruition. The Executive Director must be willing to be the face of our organization, representing our work internally and externally: to government stakeholders, donors, and other partner organizations. The relationship with the Ministry of Health and other related ministries has strengthened as PIH Malawi has taken on more work. This partnership is critical to the success of our organization, and the next leader must be able to diplomatically and expertly navigate multiple layers of partnerships. With a growing operating budget, the Executive Director is responsible for ensuring there is a robust pipeline of funding to support our commitments to both patients and staff. Additionally, the Executive Director is responsible for ensuring PIH Malawi is supported by a strong foundation of financial controls, and effective donor/grant stewardship.
