Position Title: External Relations Associate Position Classification: Regular; Exempt; Full-Time; 40 Hours/Week Reports to: External Relations Manager Location: Employees in this role can work from our Boston, MA office, remotely within the U.S. or hybrid of these two options. Over three decades, Partners In Health has built an excellent reputation as a global health leader. The External Relations Associate leverages and protects that reputation. The Associate supports the External Relations Team to amplify PIH brand messaging amongst the broadest target audience and spearheads the celebration of PIHโs unique mission and values, the showcasing of its pioneering accomplishments, and the defense of its valuable brand. Responsibilities:
- Use a strong, up-to-date knowledge of global health and current affairs to advise on, edit, and occasionally draft organizational and crisis messaging as well as advise on media and engagement strategies (30%)
- Collaborate with fundraising, advocacy, and care delivery site teams to ensure efforts are integrated, aligned, and strategic (20%)
- Work closely with care delivery site communications teams to assess and support their training and external engagement needs (15%)
- Support External Relations Manager and External Relations Director with administrative and ad-hoc needs (15%)
- Create and disseminate a weekly roundup of global health news (10%)
- Support coordination of awareness-generating collaborations with external partners (for example, speeches at conferences and panel discussions at fundraisers) (10%) Qualifications
- Five yearsโ relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field (such as global health, public health, journalism) and two yearsโ experience in a similar role
- Current and strategic understanding of media, current affairs, and global health
- Diplomacy, sound judgement, and proficiency communicating across teams and departments
- Fluency in English and, ideally, a working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Haitian Creole
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally on occasion, including international travel to remote or hard to access locations with limited infrastructure
- Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and countries
- Strategic communicator with a keen understanding of โbrandโ

Pay and BenefitsThe expected starting salary range for new hires in this position is between $55,000-65,000/year and may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market for the position, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position belongs to a class of roles that have a salary range between $50,000-70,000/year. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan with employer match, as well as participate in organization-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employeeโs eligible dependents.
