The Norwegian Refugee Council is seeking a skilled English to Ukrainian Translator to support our dynamic and fast-paced team. This role will be responsible for translating various types of documents, including humanitarian aid reports, case studies, communication materials, and web content from English to Ukrainian, ensuring that the original meaning, tone, and context are preserved.
Provide simultaneous translation from English to Ukrainian and vice versa when needed in meetings, trainings and official meetings between the organization's management and stakeholders.ย Translate a variety of documents such as reports, articles, and newsletters from English to Ukrainian and from Ukrainian to English, while retaining the original content's essence, tone, and nuancesProofread and edit final translated versions to ensure the highest possible quality.Facilitate communication between English and Ukrainian-speaking stakeholders.Use specialized software tools to optimize translation processes.Maintain an updated glossary and knowledge of current news, events, and cultural developments in regions relevant to our humanitarian work. Graduated from University, preferably English College, Translation, or relevant department.ย Native or near-native fluency in both English and Ukrainian.Proven work experience as a Translator, Interpreter, or similar role, preferably within a humanitarian or non-profit context. (General years of experience required, 5 years minimum)ย Familiarity with translation software tools (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ, Wordfast) is an asset.ย Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.Good knowledge of content editing tools.Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.Exceptional attention to detail.Demonstrated understanding of the international aid sector and sensitivity towards language nuances and cultural differences.Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.We highly encourage you to learn more about the role: please review theย detailed Job Description here.
