5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

ACAPS is expanding its Training Unit team and is looking for a dynamic Senior Trainer to implement online and face-to-face trainings. The duty station being Geneva, this position is open to Swiss nationals, applicants with rights to live and work in Switzerland as well as EU/EFTA nationals.

Training Unit

ACAPSโ€™ Training Unit provides introductory and continued trainings to ACAPS staff as well as external partners. ACAPS aspires to go beyond a simple transfer of knowledge and train people in becoming better analytical thinkers. For the learning to be effective, we want people to experience the material instead of passively consume information. We use exercises, simulations and games as preferred mode of delivery for a more successful learning experience.

ACAPS has received funding from USAIDโ€™s Bureau for Humanitarian Affairs to develop a training platform to remotely train humanitarian analysts. This โ€œanalytical base campโ€ is complemented by trainings for humanitarian decision makers for more effective decision-making. The training will combine self-paced online learning and more individualized learning in smaller groups led by specially trained facilitators.

The project is planned over a period of three years. Through a modular set-up ACAPS will build a library of training modules and exercise labs for humanitarian analysts. ACAPS aims at training 200-300 people per year over the project period. An alumni network will encourage continued engagement and create a community of practice in the longer term.

Purpose of the position

The senior trainer oversees and coordinates the 6-8 facilitators and the implementation of the training programme. The Senior Trainer works closely with the training unit coordinator on outlining and defining the content of the training and with the Training Course Designer for the implementation of those concepts.
