The Opportunity

The post holder is accountable for overall management and delivery of the project ensuring that the project is adequately resourced and implemented to meet with donor compliance and the needs of the community and children, particularly girls and children with disabilities.

The post holder will ensure effective and quality monitoring, evaluation, reporting and accountability to affected populations as well as coordination of the education project as part of Plan Internationalโ€™s emergency response impacting on girls and boys.

The post holder will have direct line management responsibilities for technical and field officers, as well as a number of indirect reports.

Provide updates on the education situation in areas affected by the emergency, highlighting education and protection related issues requiring an immediate or medium-term response, in line with Planโ€™s code of conduct.

Contribute to the development of the education strategy and participate in budget development for relevant education proposals, as required.

Coordinate with the Education Programme Specialist to ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, and explore and assess new and better ways to assist.

About You

  • University degree in education, social sciences or related field with good knowledge of human rights and humanitarian law, as well as the Mozambique education system.
  • Professional experience in education programming, humanitarian affairs and related fields.
  • Well planned and organized, comfortable to lead on project implementation and demonstrates initiative in problem-solving and decision making.
  • Knowledge of INEE Minimum Standards, the Education Cluster, key education in emergencies issues, Do No Harm principles and the CHS.
  • Solid leadership skills, able to support and build capacity of staff and partners and to work with disaster affected communities in a sensitive and participatory manner.
  • Strong project management, budgeting and analysis skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Fluency in English & Portuguese, both verbal and written.
