Job Description

Play2Learn+ is an early childhood school readiness program, which aims to improve child development and school engagement. We need you to help implement and develop the program, making sure we maximise its impact. Weโ€™re seeking a practitioner with a passion for assisting our communitiesโ€™ most vulnerable, at risk children and families to reach their full potential.

54 reasons is Australiaโ€™s leading child rights organisation โ€“ no ordinary not-for-profit.

Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, weโ€™re here to make sure that everyone understands their rights. So that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

We champion the children, young people and families we work with. We are inspired by the curiosity and creativity of children and motivated by the love of those who care for them.

With the childโ€™s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve - in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.

Where you come in:

In this part-time, maximum-term role (four days per week through to August 2024 maternity leave contract), youโ€™ll work closely with parents of three and four-year-olds as part of the Play2Learn+ program in Launceston. Youโ€™ll provide case management support to families, aiming to build parenting capacity and help to ensure that the children make a successful transition to kindergarten. Working across the Launceston region, youโ€™ll report to our Team Leader โ€“Play2Learn+.

You will make an impact by:

Partnering with families who have complex needs to build capacity and positively shape childrenโ€™s development Supporting parents in their parenting role either individually or in group settings, using partnership, strengths-based and family-centred outreach approaches Empowering parents and caregivers to support their childโ€™s engagement in education Building and maintaining strong networks, service delivery partnerships, and referral pathways Collecting and recording data and information for accountability, evaluation, and reporting

Does this sound like you?

Youโ€™re a highly flexible practitioner who thrives on working in partnership with the families of young children, using a strengths-based and family centred approach. Youโ€™ve got plenty of energy and a can-do attitude, which will help you make long-lasting relationships. Most importantly, you have a strong sense of empathy and an infectious enthusiasm for your job.

This role requires:

Demonstrated community sector and case management experience Understanding of relevant Federal and State child protection legislation Experience and understanding of the importance of the โ€œearly yearsโ€ and child development, including experience working with children and families who have experienced trauma Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to advocate on behalf of families Excellent report writing, analytical and evaluation skills Experience developing strong referral pathways within community and education sectors Formal tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (Diploma as minimum requirement, or significant equivalent experience)

Working at 54 reasons is more than just a job.
