Overview

The Operational Research Intern will play a key role in the analysis and interpretation of Partners In Health (PIH) research focused on measuring and demonstrating PIH’s impact in Sierra Leone and Liberia. The Operational Research Intern will work in collaboration with cross-site implementation and coordination teams and stakeholders across the organization. The Operational Research Intern will be responsible for data cleaning, analysis, and interpretation, and technical report development for related data. This position will serve as a key member of the research survey working group, and outputs will be critical to achieving the goals of the research team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct data cleaning on selected data sets to identify, investigate, and resolve potential errors; rename, recode, and prepare variables for analysis
• Perform data analysis to report findings aligned with major themes and priority areas, as identified by respective care delivery site implementation teams
• Develop data visualizations, such as plots and graphs, that synthesize and communicate key results
• Generate and draft reports to summarize key findings that can be used internally to understand outputs and inform programmatic decision making, as well as be a steppingstone for related discussions with external stakeholders and partners
• Collaborate with associated care delivery and coordination site teams to discuss challenges, share updates, and present findings
• Manage analysis work plan for respective data sets

  Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in graduate level, or equivalent, program
  • Background in data cleaning, analysis, interpretation, and visualization
  • Proficiency in Stata required, with demonstrated ability to utilize the software for analysis
  • Proficiency in widely used data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Stata, or other) required
  • Experience with report generation and technical writing required
  • Familiarity with mobile data collection tools, such as CommCare, preferred
  • Experience with large-scale data collection efforts, such as household surveys, preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to work well with a culturally diverse team, honoring the concerns and priorities of staff in care delivery sites; service-oriented mindset and strong communication skills
  • Ability to balance projects proactively in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in social justice and global health strongly desirable
