The Paris Agreement, adopted under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2015, represents a milestone in international climate policy: The overarching goal is to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, for which national climate targets (Nationally Determined Contributions, short: NDCs) are central. Supporting climate protection and sustainable development in developing and emerging countries is one of the priorities of the german development policy.
The global project “NDC Assist II” cooperates closely with eight partner countries to support the successful implementation of their NDCs, to leverage climate finance and for sustainable development.
An intern would help to support various parts of the project. The NDC Assist II project is based in Bonn, with one or two colleagues based in each of the partner countries, where the project works closely with political partner institutions.
Your tasks
During your internship in the NDC Assist II project, you will gain an insight into the day-to-day business of GIZ's internal and external structure and the work of a global project. Under the guidance of your supervisor, you will support the project management with organizational tasks, take over the coordination with the actors in the partner countries and support in the communication of project outcomes and the preparation of communication documents.

Currently pursuing a Master's degree or just completed Master's degree Experience in working in an intercultural setting and with communication to several stakeholder groups First practical experience - also abroad – welcome, e. g. in the field of project management support, communication, stakeholder management Analytical thinking, very structured working style and very good oral and written communication skills are required Knowledge of development cooperation and/or administrative sciences/regulatory policy Knowledge of climate policy is a plus Ability to work on own initiative, also under time pressure and highly self-organised English at fluent level is required as the project communication language is English, good Spanish skills are an advantage Very good knowledge of common MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Notes
