With Good Financial Governance (GFG), German development cooperation (DC) pursues a systemic, value-based and holistic approach that covers all subsystems of public finance as well as the respective actors and their interactions. By promoting GFG in partner countries, German DC pursues the goal of reducing poverty and promoting economic and social development. In concrete terms, this means Revenue potentials of states are to be better utilised, taxes are to be collected in a fair manner and the available funds are to be spent efficiently and transparently through transparent budgetary procedures, which is also to be verified accordingly through external financial control.

The sector project \"Good Financial Governance\" (GFG) advises and supports the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in terms of content, concept and methodology on the topics of own revenues/taxes (especially the implementation of international tax standards), budget, financial control, public procurement, debt management and fiscal decentralisation.

The SP GFG comprises four fields of action:

1) Advising the BMZ on Good Financial Governance,

2) Strengthening the implementation capacities of Technical Cooperation,

3) Impact communication on Good Financial Governance

4) Secretariat functions in the tax area (Addis Tax Initiative, International Tax Compact and Network of Tax Organisations).

The central concerns of the SP GFG are the further development and establishment of the German GFG approach in the international context. The main tasks of the SP GFG are to follow and comment on debates on public finance, to provide technical advice to the BMZ on positioning in relevant international processes and bodies, to prepare own technical papers, to further develop approaches and instruments, to design and implement trainings and advanced trainings on GFG topics.

Ihre Aufgaben

As an intern (m/f/d) you will mainly work in impact communication on public finance.

During the internship, you will gain insights into the work of the SP GFG, especially impact communication, various learning, and exchange formats as well as the strengthening of the BMZ's implementation capacities. You will support the team in technical and organisational matters and participate in meetings and various technical events.

Your responsibilities will include the following areas of activity

Contributing to the development of knowledge and concepts in the GFG approach, e.g. by conducting content-related research, following and evaluating current discussions and developments, processing information for external presentation, preparing analyses and drafting technical statements and presentations; Supporting with webinars to present selected success stories as well as various learning and exchange formats Researching current online contributions and upcoming events in the field of GFG, focusing on partner countries of German development cooperation. Support with administrative tasks, knowledge management and information exchange.

Ihr Profil

Bachelor's degree in economics, political science, administration, government or law or equivalent; Relevant basic knowledge in and strong interest in policy-making and governance, fiscal and expenditure policy, development economics or political economy. You have political sensitivity and an interest in development policy contexts. You are motivated, a team player, proactive and flexible. Your working style is organised, independent, systematic, detail- and result-oriented. You are able to grasp complex issues and summarise them concisely. We expect very good oral and written communication skills and English. Other language skills like German are a plus. Good knowledge of common MS Office programmes (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point). Ideally, you have already gained some practical experience in international cooperation, public service or academia in the field of governance/public finance.

We pay a monthly stipend of โ‚ฌ2.064,- (gross).
