Job description

The Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP, https://africa-eu-energy-partnership.org) is a framework for strategic dialogue between Africa and the EU. The overall objective of the AEEP is to improve access to secure, affordable and sustainable energy for both continents, with a special focus on increasing investment in energy infrastructure in Africa. GIZ hosts the AEEP Secretariat. Ensuring optimal communication, information sharing and alignment between European and African actors is a key function of the Secretariat. The AEEP organises an annual conference (AEEP Forum), a regular webinar series (AEEP Energy Talks) and supports partner organisations with high-level events. The intern will be based in Bonn and work in a highly dynamic, politically framed setting, with staff deployed in Ethiopia and South Africa, primarily to support the event management of the AEEP.

Your tasks

Support the AEEP Secretariat team in the organisation and management of the bi-continental AEEP Forum, AEEP Energy Talks, and other high-level events Assist with the organisation of AEEP meetings and support partner events (online & onsite), including planning and logistics Draft standardised AEEP communication products Develop inspiring presentations, documents, publications and/or communication materials according to specific event needs Support in the maintenance, update and creation of content for the AEEP website and social media channels Assist with the project management of a wide diversity of workstreams pursued by the AEEP Support research and analysis related to energy (e. g. policy, private sector investment, capacity development for energy, job creation, decentral RE, gender) with a focus on Africa

Your profile

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Social or Political Sciences, Development Studies or similar Excellent communication skills, tact and diplomacy required An ability between instances of supervision to work semi-autonomously and under pressure Training and especially prior experience in event management would be an advantage Profound skills in MS office required (in particular but not limited to Excel and PowerPoint) Skills in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator and other editing software is a strong asset Fluent in English with German or French competence as an advantage

We pay a monthly stipend of €2.134,52 (gross).
