GENERAL INFORMATION
Internship duration: 3- 6 months (9:00 โ€“ 18:00 working days) Field of expertise: Researcher and data analysis Duty Station: Seoul, South Korea

The Climate Action and Inclusive Development (CAID) Department plays a critical part in supporting GGGIโ€™s global, regional, and country-level programs and projects by:

developing long-term low-emission development strategies (LT-LEDS), strengthening measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) analysis and guidelines, including capacity building, supporting NDC revisions through defining or updating quantified mitigation and/or adaptation targets; enhancing the scope of NDC to cover a greater part of the economy/society; including and assessing macroeconomic impacts of climate action and socio-economic co-benefits. leading climate diplomacy programs and activities, applying tools to integrate poverty reduction and gender equality into climate and green growth planning and investments to enhance prosperity and welfare, measuring the Green Growth Index performance to support policy planning, providing technical services related to Environmental and Social Safeguards to meet investor and financier requirements and producing GGGIโ€™s flagship and strategic knowledge products.

The CAID unit is looking for an intern to support its activities in relation to GGGI's global program portfolio in the areas of Policy Impact Measurement. This internship is aligned with CAIDโ€™s objectives in policy impact measurement covering activities such as quantitative policy assessments, evaluating climate change initiatives, and assessing potential impacts from climate actions in strategic sectors. Specifically, the intern will contribute to quantifying policy impacts, identifying investments and outcomes consistent with environmental international commitments, and assisting in the development of tools for gathering and sharing impact and policy-relevant information. Additionally, the internship will involve supporting knowledge creation and sharing, contributing to advancing green growth and climate action goals within the CAID department.

Are you enrolled in a Master's, a Ph.D. program, or the final year of a Bachelorโ€™s program? Have you completed Bachelor, Master or Ph.D. Degree in the last 12 months? Are you between a first degree and graduate school (gap year)? Do you have an excellent command of English?

POSITION OVERVIEW

As part of CAIDโ€™s Global Program support to Members and Partners in the development of policies and frameworks that facilitate and support the transition towards green growth transformations and climate action, we are seeking for a talented and motivated intern to support a project focusing on the robust evaluation and ex-ante impact assessment of climate policies adopted by GGGIโ€™s member countries. The intern will actively contribute to researching assessment methods developed by others and formulating approaches to quantitatively assess the impact of these policies in terms of GGGIโ€™s Strategic Outcomes (SOs).

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Collaborate closely with the CAID team to establish a database, develop tools, and guidelines, arrange documentation, and perform the data collection, analysis, and reporting for policy impact measurement; Conduct research on existing assessment methods and tools relevant for evaluation the impact of policies, with a focus on network analysis applications and model parameters for one or more of the following topics in (a) energy and transport; (b) agriculture, forest, and land use; or (c) water, waste, and pollution; Continuously adapt the database to incorporate updates and process improvements, and collaborate with the team to ensure the incorporation of network analysis codes and results into the website and Simulation Tool; Create data visualization for reports, analysis, and website content to effectively communicate findings and insights; Provide support in drafting and editing a report for publications, ensuring alignment with the projectโ€™s objectives; Maintain a commitment to ongoing dynamic excellence in knowledge and practices related to policy impact assessment and green growth initiatives; and, Support the coordination and delivery of capacity-building workshops and conferences targeted to both internal and external audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled in Masterโ€™s degree or in a PhD-level program in any economic and environmental field applying network analysis. Previous experience in designing, building, and using network science tools and models for policy analysis, particularly in areas such as (a) energy and transport; (b) agriculture, forest, and land use; or (c) water, waste, and pollution desired. A strong background in quantitative methods and data analysis, with the ability to develop quantitative models; Proven computer literacy in standard office software applications skills; and the ability to work with or facilitate the creation of quantitative models. Experience in programming languages such as R, Python or Excel is desired. Excellent English communication skills, particularly writing and/or editing experience in economics, energy efficiency, climate change, or human development. Ability to work effectively under time pressure and deliver high-quality work. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
