GENERAL INFORMATION
Position Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) & Data Intern Location: Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), Seoul, South Korea. Duration: 06 months (full-time), with tentative start in March 2026 The MEL & Data Intern position at GGGIโs Regional Office for Asia (ROA) is a sixโmonth, fullโtime internship based in Seoul. The role supports the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team in managing data for surveys, studies, and internal reporting. The intern contributes to data collection, cleaning, organization, and basic analysis using tools such as Excel, SPSS, STATA, Power BI, and Tableau. The position aims to strengthen program outcomes and enhance knowledge sharing across GGGIโs operations.
BACKGROUND
The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) supports member countries in achieving sustainable and inclusive green growth through climate finance, policy development, and capacity-building initiatives. The Regional Office Asia (ROA) manages all country programs in Asia. ROA intends to hire an MEL & Data intern. The MEL & Data Intern will support the ROA MEL team with data management for surveys and studies, including large spreadsheets and basic analysis with data software programs (SPSS, STATA, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
OBJECTIVE
Working with the ROA MEL Team, MEL & Data Intern will provide support to senior staff in the regional office, focusing on MEL and data activities. The intern will assist in data collection, data cleaning, data analysis, and coordination tasks to strengthen program outcomes and facilitate knowledge sharing across GGGI.
RESPONSIBILITY
Under the supervision of the Asia MEL and Quality Assurance, Senior Officer, and in collaboration with ROA senior staff, the MEL Intern will perform the following entry-level tasks:
Data Collection and Management: Assist in gathering data from country offices on internal studies and surveys. Organize and maintain large datasets in spreadsheets or designated databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Support the preparation of data summaries for internal reports and presentations. Data Analysis and Reporting: Assistance in preparing data ready for analysis. Keeping track of data and performing basic-level data analysis, where possible. Support the efficient documentation of data in folders and sub-folders. Administrative Support: Maintain organized records of MEL documents, including reports, datasets, and meeting notes. Assist in preparing visual aids (e.g., charts, graphs) for MEL presentations using tools like Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint. Perform other administrative tasks assigned to support the MEL team.QUALIFICATIONS
Be enrolled in a Bachelorโs (final year), Masterโs, or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months in Data Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field. Basic understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and learning concepts, preferably in the context of climate change or sustainable development. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic familiarity with data software and visualization programs (SPSS, STATA, Power BI, Tableau, etc.). Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in any Asian language is an advantage. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team and manage multiple tasks under supervision.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the internship, the intern will:
Gain practical experience in MEL processes for climate finance and sustainable development programs. Develop skills in data collection, analysis, and reporting using entry-level tools and templates. Build knowledge of GGGIโs operations and climate finance landscape.
SUPERVISION AND REPORTING
The MEL Intern will report to the Asia MEL and Quality Assurance Senior Officer and work closely with senior staff in the regional office. Weekly check-ins will be scheduled to review progress, provide feedback, and assign tasks.
SELECTION PROCESS
Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. GGGI evaluates applications based on eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work. Due to high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation.
Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.
Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
