Facilitator - Early Years and Primary School

That’s why 54 reasons stands ready to deploy, providing immediate psychosocial support and staying as long as it takes to help children and families recover from their losses, restore their lives and build their resilience for years to come. Our Journey of Hope (JoH) program works with children, caregivers and teachers to help them manage the impacts of COVID-19, and is led by facilitators who are professionally trained in managing child trauma.

Our play-based early childhood development and family support program, Play2Learn, works with children and families across Australia where disadvantage may impact their capacity to learn. Based on evidence, we help children develop their social skills, interests and connection with community.

Where you come in:

In these casual roles, you’ll backfill the facilitation team as required to deliver the JoH program and Play2Learn program throughout the Southeast Melbourne region. Working in supported playgroups with children aged 0-5, and in primary schools with children aged 5-12, you'll be based in the communities around Doveton (which may include Casey and Dandenong), and will report to our Team Leader. The role is based partly remotely (e.g., from home or on the road, traveling between delivery locations in the region) and partly in playgroup delivery locations and schools.

You respond calmly to crisis situations and have credible expertise in working with children who have experienced traumatic events. Your strong interpersonal skills mean you’ll work seamlessly in partnership with a Senior Facilitator, and you’re committed to the highest standards of service delivery. You’re proactive, creative and flexible in your approach to working with families and children, using a trauma-informed, strengths-based framework.

Note: This position is designated under the Multiagency Risk Assessment and Management framework (MARAM), which requires mandated MARAM Family Violence Screening & Identification training and responsibilities. If successful in the role, you will need to undertake MARAM training and provide evidence of completion.
