Founded in 1937, Plan International, Inc. (\"PII\") is a globally recognized non-profit dedicated to advancing children's rights and gender equality in both humanitarian and development contexts. With over 80 years of experience, Plan International addresses the root causes of challenges faced by girls and vulnerable children, working in 70+ countries. Plan International Kenya (PIK), operational since 1982, focuses on long-term development. Collaborating closely with local communities and governments, with a work force of 250 staffs and annual budget of $ 16 million, PIK implements programs to enhance the well-being of children, girls and young people in geographic focus of Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Tharaka-Nithi, Siaya, Kwale, Kilifi, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Tana River, Turkana, and Marsabit.
OUR STRATEGY STATEMENT
Under the current Country Strategy (July 2021 โ June 2026), PIK aims to end teenage pregnancies and gender-based violence against girls. This goal will be achieved through the following thematic pillars. strategic objectives:
- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR): Improve access to SRHR services and information to reduce teenage pregnancies and harmful practices in Kenya.
- Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence: Ensure functional child and girls' rights protection mechanisms to prevent and respond to all forms of violence and abuse.
- Protecting Girls and Young Women in Crisis and Climate Change Adaptation: Minimize the impact of disasters on girls, young women, families, and communities.
- Youth-led and Innovative Partnerships for Job Creation: Build a stronger ecosystem for youth employment and entrepreneurship, particularly for vulnerable young women, fostering job seekers and creators.

- Plan International embarked on an ambitious and exciting strategic change initiative to make the organization more transparent, legitimate, and agile. Strengthening our People and Culture processes is one of the key enablers in attaining our strategic goals.
- The Country Office P&C Manager will:
- Understand, influence, and Interpret the Country Office (CO) strategy and Plan International Inc (PII) P&Cโs Strategic Plan and priorities to develop and implement CO P&C strategic and operational plans to enhance the Country Officeโs performance through our people.
- Partner with the Country Management Team (CMT) to nurture an agile organisational culture in the CO, underpinned by our values and feminist principles.
- Lead and manage the P&C function in the Country Office (CO) focusing on responsive and efficient operations and targeted excellence.
- Build CO P&C capacity and capability to deliver CO strategic and operational plans, through competency assessments, learning and development, performance and talent management, workforce planning, etc.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE
High and Medium Complexity
- Bachelorโs Degree in Human Resources Management or related filed
- 10 years of relevant experience in INGO Sector or demonstrated equivalent combination;
- Practising Certificate from the Institute of Human Resource Management Kenya (IHRM)
- Leadership and managerial experience required
- Demonstrated ability working in a complex multicultural team environment
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience in leading and managing a team, coaching and mentoring with experience in conflict management.
- Significant professional expertise and in-depth knowledge acquired through professional qualifications, inherent understanding, and substantial relevant experience in developing and embedding people, capability, and organisational / HR practices.
- Fundamental understanding and extensive experience in strategic and operational aspects of people, capability and organisational/HR practices in a leadership role and ability to plan and prioritise work within the context.
Languages required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Desirable
- Experience of working in non-profit sector
- A masterโs Degree is preferred
