This position will be hybrid, remote and in an office setting in Washington, DC. The position will require some evening availability (approximately 6:00pm - 8:00pm per week) and occasional weekend availability (Saturday).

Job Summary:

FHI 360โ€™s National Institute for Work and Learning (NIWL) focuses on two key drivers - education and employment - to improve lives. NIWL conducts work around three focus areas: college and career readiness, workforce development, and research and evaluation, all led by the NIWL Director.

The Career Services Specialist will be hybrid, based a day or two a week in the office in Washington, DC (District), and will serve as part of the project team for the District of Columbiaโ€™s Department of Human Servicesโ€™ Career Mobility Action Plan (MAP) Grant and the Department of Labor Apprenticeship initiative. The Career Services Specialist will train staff on best practices and equip them on how to serve members with career services, review program plans for families and evidence-based practices of coaching, motivational interviewing, flow theory, active listening, and problem-solving. This position will also support the development of logic models, and identifying evidence, publications, and reporting opportunities that would be beneficial to the workforce development field to highlight and incorporate into the programs. This position will also have a direct service component responsible for virtual and some in-person hosting of career development workshops, youth development content for adults serving youth, apprenticeship mentoring, and workforce readiness workshops (financial literacy, digital badging, workforce readiness courses) for program participants. The Career Services Specialist will continue to build a community of professionals through apprenticeship courses to serve opportunity youth throughout the country and provide access and career pathways within the workforce system for people with lived experience in their communities.

The Career Services Specialist will support FHI 360 business development by drafting technical portions of proposals and project design for workforce development and apprenticeship opportunities. Provide higher-level administrative support on core project operations (e.g., update manuals, assist with proposals, and project outcome and budget tracking). Assists with project implementation and training. Provide a range of technical and administrative services at increasing levels of complexity to support project implementation and proposal development.
