In the Northeast Area, the humanitarian needs are a result of three principal dynamics: armed conflict, mixed migratory fluxes, and natural disasters. Close to 20% of the total number of victims of the armed conflict in Colombia come from the six departments conforming the NE Area. Despite the peace agreement with FARC-EP guerrilla, it did not represent an improvement in life quality of communities in rural, marginal, and hard to reach zones where other Illegal Armed Groups keep being present, fighting for illegal economy routes and businesses as illegal crops, drug trafficking and informal mining. These zones are characterized by a weak or no presence from the government, unmet basic needs, and fragmented communitarian processes, generating higher vulnerability to the people living in these zones.ย
