Job description

The Global Project \"Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities\" aims to support gender-sensitive inclusion of persons with disabilities in German and international development cooperation. The project is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Together with various partners at country, regional and global levels, the project implements innovative, human rights-based approaches and tested solutions for the full participation of persons with disabilities in different areas of international cooperation. It assists Germany, Jordan, and the International Disability Alliance in the preparation for the next Global Disability Summit 2025 in Berlin, contributes to awareness-raising and learning opportunities in the field of disability inclusion and implements with partners development measures for gender-sensitive inclusion of persons with disabilities.

Your tasks

Supporting the technical and conceptual preparation of the Global Disability Summit (GDS) 2025 and advising the responsible BMZ department in cooperation with the co-hosts Jordan and International Disability Alliance Advising the co-hosts on the state of implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with a particular focus on partner countries of German development cooperation Reviewing relevant legal and political documents and processes in connection with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Agenda 2030 Preparation of status reports and concept notes on various issues related to the inclusion of persons with disabilities including discrimination, deinstitutionalization, intersectionality, education, health and employment Cooperating with international partners in the design of global initiatives or alliances that may emerge in the run up to the Global Disability Summit Supporting the preparation and dissemination of learning experiences and advising the client on the use of these experiences in an international context Supporting project monitoring, evaluations, and special events for the GDS 2025 e.g., regional pre-summits or side-events Contributing to international communication, the GIZ disability inclusion network and to (digital) events on disability inclusion

Your profile

University degree in law or comparable qualification Several years of professional experience either on the topic of inclusion of persons with disabilities or on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Deep knowledge of the relevant legal and political processes regarding the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Agenda 2030 Initial experience in the independent management and implementation of project activities; transnational measures and cooperation management is an asset Professional experience in international cooperation, some of it in non-European countries Motivation to work in an inclusive team largely independently and cooperatively towards common goals Confident appearance, intercultural competence, empathy, reliability, and political sensitivity Business fluent in English and German; basic knowledge of another UN language is an advantage
