Background:

Conference and Language Services Section provides written translation and oral interpretation, as well as simultaneous interpretation and sound system equipment to all OMiK Departments, in adequate, accurate and timely manner focusing on meeting all deadlines while upholding highest quality and standards and ensuring consistency in terminology, maintaining reliability, professionalism and confidentiality.
Language Service provides following services on daily basis: written translation and proofreading of various documents (OMiK Official Reports, Comments to Draft Laws, Official Correspondence, Conference/Workshops/Trainings/Meetings/Roundtables handouts and any other relevant documents that require professional translation by Language Service); Simultaneous and consecutive interpretation for various meetings, conferences, roundtables, workshops, training sessions, meetings, press conferences and other events.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of National Language Services Co-ordinator, the Senior Translator/ Interpreter Assistant is responsible for providing following services:

Translation and proofreading of various texts and documents from/into English/Albanian relevant to the work of Departments within OMiK. These incudes OMiK Official Reports, Comments to Draft Laws, Official Correspondence, Conference/Workshops/Trainings/Meetings/Roundtables handouts, legal documents, contracts, special reports, discussion papers, recommendations and minutes from high level meetings, conferences, regulations and outgoing communications as well as other documents necessitating high quality translation, as assigned by National Language Service Coordinator; Simultaneous and consecutive interpretation for OMiK Departments during various meetings, seminars, conferences round table discussions, workshops, training sessions and other events; Accompanies OMiK officials when required on other official and informal events to provide interpretation services; Performs other duties as assigned.


Deliverables:

Submit documents as per deadlines received by National Language Service Coordinator Provide simultaneous and consecutive interpretation as per schedules received by National Language Service Coordinator

Performance Indicators:

Documents translated and submitted before or by deadline set by National Language Service Coordinator; Terminology used consistently through the translated document Sensitivity of the Mission mandate taken into account at all times Highest level of confidentiality respected at all times E-mail monitored regularly, ensuring timely response to translation tasks and urgent requests treated with priority; Highest professional interpretation standards adhered to; Punctuality shown at all times; Simultaneous interpretation equipment used efficiently and effectively; Teamwork observed at all times while performing simultaneous interpretation; Professional dress code/attitude/presentation; Positive feedback from OMiK requesters and participants

Necessary Qualifications:

Completed secondary education supplemented by formal studies/training in languages; Minimum six years of translation or interpretation experience; Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft packages; Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Albanian; Knowledge of Serbian language desirable

Remuneration Package:

Remuneration will depend on the qualifications and experience of individual experts as well as the detailed work plan to be agreed upon and will be based on the current OSCE consultancy rates.
