PIH-US accompanies visionary public health and community partners working to build strong, integrated, community-led health systems across the U.S. PIH-US currently supports local health departments, health providers, elected officials, and community leaders to define clear health and racial equity agendas and provides technical advising and operational support to deliver on those commitments. Our current focus communities include Montgomery, Alabama; Chicago, Illinois; Immokalee, Florida; Newark, New Jersey; New Bedford, Massachusetts; North Carolina; and Pima County, Arizona. We capture learnings from across this network to mobilize resources, advance policy change, and lay the groundwork for stronger community health systems nationally. Position Overview: This leadership position will manage the program development and implementation across various site-specific programs. The COVID-19 pandemic revealed the limits of public health and healthcare to effectively engage in marginalized communities. In Chicago specifically, there are stark inequities between Black & Latinx communities and White & Asian communities, between South & Westside neighborhoods and the Loop & the Northside. The Senior Project Manager will support a cohort of grassroots community-based organizations (CBOs) serving Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) communities to expand innovative approaches to public health mobilization, community education, and organizing. The PIH-US Learning Community will support the knowledge, skill building, and collaborative infrastructure needs for various learning communities. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for implementation of site-based programming – providing a bridge to the larger public health and healthcare landscape for community-based partners, leaders, community health organizers, articulating a shared strategy for collective impact across programs and activities in Chicago. The Senior Project Manager will also collaborate with site staff to define and document metrics to measure program effectiveness and advocating for the health and social justice goals of Chicagoland communities. Because of the community partnership orientation of this role, this is a locally based position to the Chicagoland area. Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement programs as outlined in the position overview.
• Directly supervise 1-2 Project Managers.
• Create and maintain overall project coordination meetings and specific community partner touchpoints to support programmatic activities.
• Assist the PIH-US national and Chicago teams to design a monitoring and evaluation structure for site-based programs and oversee CBO reporting (with direct support from each Project Manager).
• Inform training and capacity building needs in collaboration with the PIH-US national team and any external stakeholders.
• Represent PIH Chicagoland team in external stakeholder meetings, including with community members, relevant Departments of Public Health, current and potential healthcare partners, collaborating funders, and in the media as opportunity arises.
• Participate in all relevant PIH Chicago project activities and meetings. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or 5-8 years of professional experience in community organizing community health work, public health, or a clinical field.
  • 5+ years of CBO / not-for-profit / community organizing experience in BIPOC or other marginalized communities. This may include community health or other social service experience.
  • Prior project management experience in complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with cross sector partners including health and health systems, social service providers and community-based organizations across Chicago.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and health equity. Experience practicing / teaching explicit anti-racist and social justice-oriented programs is strongly preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English language preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities appropriately.
  • Exceptional diplomatic and interpersonal skills and ability to build strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders in a challenging, evolving environment.
  • Strategically minded, able to think creatively around program objectives and the detailed steps necessary to achieve these goals.
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, as well as a facility with qualitative and quantitative analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to exhibit a diplomatic, positive attitude, empathy, and strong work ethic.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and flexibility in the face of rapidly evolving scope of work and new challenges.
  • Sound judgment and ability to handle confidential information with discretion and diplomacy.
  • Strong communication skills, including delivery of compelling presentations and documents in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $70,000 and $90,000/year. The starting salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market for the position, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan with employer match, as well as participate in organization-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Full time employees will receive 15 days of vacation, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, and 3 volunteer days in addition to paid time off during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, the week of July 4th, and 11 additional holidays annually.
