The TeamThe Accelerator is an exciting and fast-paced team in our Global Health division, with the vision to create novel technology capabilities that enable the foundationโs mission. Our team conceives, designs, and tests fundamentally new biotech platforms that have the potential to change best practices or business models and show proof of concept for these platforms. By maximizing grants, equity, and donor capital, we work to ensure the capabilities we advance reach broad societal benefit and transition these new technology platforms to execution partners. Some example platform capabilities that are exploring include harnessing the power of chemo-sensing for ultra-high sensitivity detection of volatiles, programming immune system responses for design of next generation vaccine modalities, and engineering antibodies for oral delivery. We will continue to explore ground-breaking technology capabilities beyond these within our broad directive.

Your Role
This position is responsible for leading a technology domain portfolio focused on building non-invasive sensing devices that can be deployed for community detection of infectious disease and/or individual, continuous monitoring of health and disease state without the collection of biospecimens by a trained professional. This person will:
- Lead and down select a portfolio of high-impact non-invasive sensing and device development grants to achieve cost, quality, sensitivity, and durability targets.
- Identify technologies and partners; develop strategic objectives and key results; guide development of coordinated project plans, deliverables, and timelines; and monitor progress.
- Enable integration of product development plans across work streams and translate new knowledge into effective interventions and decisions.
What Youโll Do
Duties may include any or all the following:
- Work effectively with a wide range of product development partners (including academic labs, start-ups, multinational companies) to incorporate and integrate critical technical activities to achieve successful program progression.
- Review and provide feedback on partner plans, identifying areas that would benefit from access to additional expertise.
- Build and partner with a network of subject matter experts (SMEs) in diverse areas of non-invasive sensing and device development to bring the full range of specifications needed to progress investments as quickly and effectively as possible.
- Communicate product development strategies and decisions to internal and external partners.
- Synthesize scientific/technical and commercial factors toward strategic decision making as well as lead and influence data-driven strategy planning and implementation.
Your Experience
- PhD in electrical engineering, applied physics, material sciences, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years industry or related experience leading the design and development of health monitoring devices.
- Experience across all phases of health sensing device development, with significant late-stage experience, including the development and execution of comprehensive and integrated product development plans.
- Working knowledge of a broad spectrum of electrical engineering and device development technical specifications.
- Solid understanding of regulatory requirements for all phases of health device development and a history of productive interactions with regulators is required.

The salary range for this role is $204,600 to $317,100 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences in Seattle and Washington D.C., where our offices are located. The range for this role in these locations is $222,900 to $345,500 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission. New hires salaries are typically between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidateโs job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
