BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The WFP Technology Division (TEC) is the nervous system of WFP, connecting staff with each other and with our beneficiaries, donors and partners. Running all vital IT systems, TEC serves as the main driver for continuity of operations, efficiency gains and innovations that empower staff globally to effectively implement the Strategic Plan. Within TEC, the Customer Engagement and Project Management Office team plays a key role in the digital transformation of WFP by partnering with all parts of the organization in order to identify gaps, set priorities, improve user experience, and scale up digital approaches that enhance business efficiency and operational impact.
As part of WFPโs objective to digitally transform key business areas and maintain a focus on data-driven decision making, the Senior Business Analyst will primarily analyze business requirements and provide feedback on the evolving range of solutions, systems, and processes. S/he will be responsible for collaborating with other divisions and functions to understand and document core business needs, enhancing their understanding through business requirements documents and functional specifications. The Senior Business Analyst will work under the general supervision and guidance of the Senior Business Engagement Manager, TECE.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collect and analyze business requirements from stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of project needs and objectives.
- Develop comprehensive documentation, including business requirements documents, functional specifications, and process flow diagrams, to support project development and implementation.
- Develop Total Cost of Ownership processes and frameworks, apply to specific portfolios, and enhance it through experience until a comprehensive model is available for the Division.
- Strategic stakeholder engagement and leadership, including business units, IT teams, and external partners, to ensure alignment and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive strategic process innovation and continuous improvement contributing to the development and implementation of best practices within the organization.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework that identifies and address risks and impacts and propose risk mitigation options, considering business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment.
- Lead the alignment between Business and TEC strategic directions, including business forward-visions, projects, the I&T strategy, the Data Strategy and the Enterprise Architecture, and ensure they come together and support field needs. Collaborate with the related TEC branches to ensure continuous alignment.
- Collaborate with Business Engagement Managers in Regional Bureaus and in Headquarters to ensure an integrated, coherent approach to the technology / data used across portfolio.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
For each engagement, the BA will be required to deliver:
- Business Requirements Documents: detailed documentation outlining business needs, objectives, and requirements for a project, serving as a reference for stakeholders and development teams.
- Functional Specifications: Comprehensive specifications that describe the functionality, features, and behavior of the proposed solution, ensuring that it meets the business requirements.
- Process Flow Diagrams: Visual representations of business processes and workflows, helping to illustrate current and future states, identify inefficiencies, and support process improvements.
- Any additional documentation required by stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
University degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Economics, Psychology or related field
Experience:
At least 6 years of relevant experience in IT business analysis which includes designing and documenting requirements, detailed process flows and performing quality assessment and assurance functions.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Innovative approach to increase internal & external knowledge;
- Knowledge of business requirement analysis, data modeling, and systems.
- Collaborative hands-on team member and relationship-builder with a facilitative nature and strong business partnering skills towards colleagues and stakeholders; Strong project management skills, excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills to senior management on progress of project;
- Ability to prioritize and drive sound business decisions;
- Good knowledge of technology;
- Ethics & Values, Client Orientation, Cognitive Capacity, Stress Resistance, Behavioural Flexibility;
- General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures governing administration is an asset.
