The Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA) is a non-profit international research institute dedicated to food, nutrition and livelihood security as well as environmental rehabilitation in South Asia, which is home to more than 300 million undernourished people. We are seeking dynamic, innovative and self-motivated professional with a specialization in Economics. She/he will be responsible to work on a spatial econometrics analysis, a systematic review of literature on climate risk management, meta-analysis, and resilience to build targeted adaptation solutions to climate change in the South Asia region.
The position will be based in Delhi.
Specific duties:
Using spatial-econometric analysis, provide insights on climate hazard, exposure, and risk characterization for targeting climate adaptation solutions. Conduct preliminary electronic database searches for structured and targeted literature reviews to understand the climate impact and adaptation solutions together with suitability and cost: benefit analysis. Conduct a gendered analysis of the climate change impacts and adaptation solutions. Contribute to the other activities as assigned by the supervisor. Publish research findings in international peer-reviewed journals and contribute to the dissemination of results to stakeholders via workshops and webinars.Required qualifications, skills and attitudes:
MSc, MS, or PhD degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., economics, natural resources economics, agricultural economics, and related fields). At least two years of experience in a similar position or activities. Strong interest in applied research in the context of climate adaptation projects, including extensive engagement within multidisciplinary project teams. Comprehensive knowledge of Web of Science and Scopus platforms, Endnote, RefMan, Mendeley, BibTex, and/or other open-source packages is desirable. The selected candidate must exhibit the following competencies: Communication, Client Orientation, Teamwork, Creative and Critical Thinking.The position is for an initial fixed-term contract of 1 year, after which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds.
