The Global Connections (GC) department is a leader in designing innovative international exchange and scholarship programs that promote leadership, professional development, civic engagement, academic opportunities and global collaboration. GC projects help emerging leaders from around the world develop their skills, make valuable global contacts and gain a deeper understanding of each other’s societies and cultures. GC programs are enriched by staff expertise in adult and youth learning approaches, a wide range of disciplines and sectors, and our extensive experience in every aspect of project design, implementation and evaluation.
The Program Officer will be a member of the Global Connections operations team, reporting to the Department Director. They will work with GC senior staff to support business planning and proposal development, including research and tracking of opportunities; implement communications mechanisms that support strategic positioning; represent the department at key internal and external events, as appropriate; and support departmental strategic planning activities.
Works with GC Director and project leads to research, identify, and track business development opportunities and funding sources.
Participates in outreach to potential program partners.
Maintains database of profiles and contact information for key funders/partners.
Responsible for maintaining and updating business development opportunities/records in Salesforce.
Builds strong relationships with colleagues across multiple internal departments to facilitate business development activities and proposal process.
Serves as the department liaison at organization-wide business development and corporate communications meetings, as appropriate and at the direction of the GC Director.
Facilitates proposal processes from capture through proposal submission, in collaboration with Business Unit and Corporate business development teams.
Works with proposal teams to establish production schedules, pull in expertise from other departments and business units, set up technical design and review meetings, develop attachments, compile required documentation, and work with proposal lead to ensure on-time preparation of materials for internal review and submission.
Works with proposal design lead to implement procurement process to secure external program partners and vendors, including management of submission checklists, communication with bidders, development of review criteria and panels, participation in final selection, and facilitation of teaming agreements.
Assists with preparing proposal annexes, editing, and proofreading.
Utilizes tools, templates and work processes that result in streamlined and efficient proposal teamwork.
Works with GC managers and BU/corporate communications staff to develop and implement a GC communications strategy and materials.
Assists GC Director with Alliance for International Exchange and Global Ties U.S. membership activities.
Researches, writes, and/or edits a broad range of communications that promote GC activities, in collaboration with project social media teams.
Develops promotional and informational materials for internal and external outreach activities.
Manages GC SharePoint site and serves as GC point of contact for both the SharePoint and Salesforce platforms.
Ensures updating of information on internal Connect site and FHI 360 website.
Works with GC project leads to identify and prepare for key conferences and events, and participate in these events, as appropriate.
Assists project teams, as needed, during peak implementation.
Manages confidential and sensitive information.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in education, international affairs/development or related field.
4+ years of experience in strategic planning, writing/editing, proposal development, communications/marketing, and/or other related work; experience working in the global education or exchanges and scholarship field is preferred.
Experience with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) preferred.
Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrates leadership ability.
Demonstrates strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities and the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
Able to work across diverse teams and meet deadlines and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
