Work LocationGhana Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe United Nations Resident Coordinator leads the UN Country Team (UNCT) in Ghana and coordinates the UN System support to the Government of Ghana. In this spirit, the UN Resident Coordinatorโ€™s Office (RCO) seeks to support and maximize, in a coordinated fashion, the work of the UNCT to enable the UN Development System (UNDS) provide a collective, coherent and country-driven integrated response to national needs, within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other international commitments. Context: As part of the new vision of the Resident Coordinatorโ€™s Office, and the new corporate strategy focused on impactful delivery on the prevention agenda, the Peace and Development Unit is committed to supporting Ghanaian or foreign students in their training. It offers end-of-cycle internships to students who meet the criteria mentioned below, in order to enable them to complete their training cycle and integrate into the professional world. The RCO is strengthening the capacity of its research unit to meet these challenges by recruiting an intern. This is an opportunity for enriching experience for students wishing to gain experience in the in-web research and weekly news can, results-oriented research in a UN environment, but also the improvement of their writing skills. The intern will work in the Peace and Development Unit. Functions/ Expected Results: Under overall supervision of thew Head of the RCO and direct daily supervision of the PDO, the intern will contribute to the smooth running of the activities of the peace and development functional unit and the office. These tasks include, but are not limited to, the following: โ€ข Support the production of weekly, monthly and bi-monthly analytical notes โ€ข Support the writing of thematic notes contributing to the political economy analysis done by PDO and the Economist; โ€ข Produce weekly news scan for social media analysis and other online thematic conversations โ€ข Any other tasks that may be assigned including general assistance to the RCO Advisory Impact of results: โ€ข Good practices are identified and archived, โ€ข Project documentation is well organized and updated, โ€ข Good entry points on hate speech focused advocacy are identified in the build-up to election focused advocacy, and โ€ข Documents and briefs produced are well informed from a broad range of sources The intern will be supervised by RCO Head of Office and Peace Development Officer Qualifications/special skillsThe Intern must be enrolled at the university (graduate programs/ master's degree or equivalent) โ€ข Or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the development field Excellent knowledge of computer tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media and internet) Languagesโ€ข Very good knowledge of English โ€ข Knowledge of another UN language would be an asset Additional InformationNot available.
