FHI 360 has an exciting internship opportunity for a student interested in growing their health communication skills. Under close supervision, an intern will perform entry level professional duties which will provide the opportunity for professional training in various functional areas throughout the organization. Internship assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to a global nonprofit development organization.

The Social Marketing and Communication (SMC) department within FHI 360โ€™s U.S. Programs is a national leader in applying a science-based approach to social marketing and communication to address public health and other challenges in the U.S. SMC currently implements a diverse portfolio of social marketing, public relations, communication, and training and technical assistance projects in the U.S. that are funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, private associations, and foundations. In the past decade, our team has worked on issues such as diabetes, emergency and pandemic preparedness, obesity prevention, sexual health, HIV/AIDS, cancer, asthma, immunizations, violence prevention, access to health care, and tobacco control and cessation. This position will provide communication support to the National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research (NCCOR). NCCOR brings together the nationโ€™s leading research fundersโ€”the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), and U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA)โ€”to address the problem of childhood obesity in America. The NCCOR Communications intern will assist in implementing NCCORโ€™s day-to-day communication strategy, which will include developing press releases, newsletters, social media content, and using Google Analytics and Google Ads to enhance promotional efforts.

This is a paid internship with a flexible schedule based on project needs.

Anticipated Duration: Summer 2024: May โ€“ August

Hours: Part time, 20 hours per week

Pay Rate: $24.00/hour (Masterโ€™s)

Location: United States, remote (strong preference given to candidates residing in the Eastern time zone)
