Position: Team Leader - MNCH and Nutrition

The Team Lead, MNCH and Nutrition oversees programmatic activities for two technical areas within the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project: nutrition and MNCH. The Team Lead will work alongside technical experts in MNCH and nutrition to oversee and contribute to field-based efforts improve lifesaving MNCH and nutrition services in Karnali, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim through a network implementing partners (IPs) working in 19 districts. The Team Lead will also collaborate with Government of Nepal stakeholders at the national and subnational level, local implementing partners (IPs), as well as FHI 360 technical focal points in the Nepal office, in the Asia Region, and at headquarters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the development of the FHI 360/EpiC Nepal project work plans and collaborate with finance to ensure accurate budget tracking, and program designs according to the EpiC project and USG requirements and strategies.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of subprojectsโ€”including agency selection, sub-agreement drafting, review, execution, and any necessary modificationsโ€”while ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation in collaboration with relevant FHI 360/EpiC Nepal MNCH and Nutrition staff.
  • Collaborate with program and technical staff across EpiCโ€™s broad portfolio, which also includes global health security and HIV, to ensure the project is well-coordinated and implemented with efficiency and effectiveness internally and externally. Continuously track overall progress on subprojects and review with provincial coordinators on a regular basis, including budget expenditures, burn rates and achievement towards targets and utilize the information from monitoring for program improvement and increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Assist provincial coordinators to regularly track the program's progress and to prepare, analyze, review and use continuum of MNCH and Nutrition for program improvement.
  • Assist provincial coordinators for analysis of program data and information on a regular basis and use the findings and recommendations for program improvement.
  • Coordinate and ensure adequate and timely supportive supervision and monitoring visits to implementing partner (IPs) from provincial coordinators and specialized units for on-site coaching & mentoring. Conduct supportive supervision and monitoring of IPs and sub-Ips and guide them to achieve all reporting requirements for FHI 360, its doners and the government
  • Coordinate MNCH and nutrition interventions at the field level in partnership with technical experts, the Deputy Project Director, and provincial coordinators.
  • Craft scopes of work and other contractual documents for implementing partner subawards.
  • Design and deliver presentations related to FHI 360 programs at the state/province and local level as needed.
  • Track and follow up on program-related issues on a regular basis and share updated information to the program and technical teams.
  • Communicate all programmatic decisions to direct reports in a timely manner through effective communication channels.
  • Ensure that work is data informed and responsive to evolving needs at the municipal, district, provincial, and national level.
  • Coordinate to monitor security-related situation and issues in FHI 360 project districts on a regular basis, assess impact on programs, report any issues or problems to the supervisor and make recommendations for strategies to minimize the impact.
  • Contribute to prepare program-related reports, monthly updates, documentation and write-ups including, fortnightly/monthly updates, updates for program and technical meetings, quarterly progress reports, paper publications, abstracts, newsletters, and success stories.
  • Provide inputs on the documents and write-up prepared by specialized units from program management perspective.
  • Contribute to the development of communication materials, training curriculum and other program-related materials as needed.
  • Supervise Technical Officers (provincial coordinators) managing IPs in the field.
  • Represent FHI 360/EpiC Nepal MNCH and Nutrition project in external functions as needed at the state/province level.
  • Lead program team in the absence of another team leader.
  • Support EpiC Nepal in addressing safeguarding and compliance related issues among the IPs when asked by Office of Compliance and Internal Audit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisors, Technical Director and Project Director/Country Representative.
