I. MSF INTERNATIONAL

Mรฉdecins Sans Frontiรจres (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters. MSF offers assistance to people based only on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.

MSF International is the legal entity that binds MSFโ€™s 24 sections, 28 associations and other offices together. Registered in Switzerland, MSF International provides coordination, information and support to the MSF Movement, as well as implements international projects and initiatives as requested.

II. POSITION BACKGROUND

Theย MSF Speaking Out Case Studies (SOCS)ย is aย series of studies from Mรฉdecins Sansย Frontiรจresย that openly examines and analyses the organisationโ€™s actions and decision-making process during humanitarian emergencies that have led it to speak out or not. The Speaking Out Case Studies document critical humanitarian dilemmas, constraints and controversies surrounding speaking out throughout the history of MSF.

The SOCS project assists all MSF members, and a growing external audience in understanding how speaking out articulates with humanitarian interventions.

14 case studies and 3 podcast series are available in English and French at www.msf.org/speakingout

SOCS based learning courses are accessible on TEMBO, the MSF learning platform: https://tembo.msf.org/

ย

The SOCS Project is under the responsibility and the supervision of the MSF International Board (lB); its management is delegated to the IB treasurer and the IB/SOCS Steering and Editorial Committee liaison, supported by the SOCS Advice on Steering and Editorial Committee.
