Background
The Research & Evaluation (R&E) department of FHI 360โs Global Education, Employment and Engagement (G3E) business unit provides technical leadership and technical support in the design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and research activities. The R&E department develops and maintains standards of quality and rigor for all aspects of research, monitoring, and evaluation. Further, the R&E department works with G3E technical teams to develop and implement a robust research agenda that contributes to the global knowledge base on development solutions and advances FHI 360โs intellectual leadership.
Position Description/Job Responsibilities
The Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Officer I will work within the R&E Department to support monitoring, evaluation, research activities across multiple sectors including global education, economic participation, civil society and peacebuilding.
Responsibilities include:
Providing support to M&E Specialists working on monitoring, evaluation, research and learning (MERL) activities for projects in a range of locations globally. Technical responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the development performance indicator tracking tables and performance indicator reference sheets and templates;
Calculating indicators and providing quality assurance for client reporting, support during preparation of quarterly and annual reports, and other documents;
Conducting searches of published literature, blogs; gathering information, data and statistics needed to provide evidence to reports and target setting;
Assisting in the developments of presentations, papers, and reports by copy-editing, writing, generating tables, graphs, and other data visualizations;
Assisting in the development and dissemination of tools, materials, reports, and papers
Providing support to M&E Specialists working on business development by conducting literature reviews, drafting sections of and copy-editing M&E deliverables for proposals.
Providing support in the development and sharing of lessons, knowledge, innovations, and best practices; development of tools for Pause and Reflect events and support to M&E knowledge management,
Providing support to qualitative assessments, such as transcription and coding of interview and focus groups discussion transcripts.
Provide in the execution of research and MERL services led by the R&E team, including consultant and vendor processing in support of data collection and research activities;
Support knowledge management for the R&E department, including integration of learning and dissemination activities into project routines and ensuring knowledge products are widely accessible and available in a variety of formats.
Experience:
Bachelorโs degree required in one of the following or related fields: international development, international affairs, economics, political science;
Spanish or French working proficiency preferred;
2+ years of relevant technical assistance experience;
Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private company
Skills:
Strong writing and communication skills in English, Spanish and/or other languages a plus; including an ability to write clearly and concisely on short deadline;
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with R&E team;
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge and experience with qualitative analysis software preferred;
Professional demeanor; strong collaborative spirit;
Ability to work as an integral part of a professional team, to set priorities, and manage high volume of activity.
